Fa 10:45 I'aiii(rer, Flt-IKht, Wednesday's Ball Came. The return "game between the Mohawks and Blues was played on the latter named club's grounds, last Wednesday, under unfavorable circumstances. Owing to the high, wind lidding was very difficult, and it wa3 impossible to keep the score down. Seven homo runs ere made, four of which were made by the Blues. A double play was made by Bush and Shep-ard.

At the end of the first half of the ninth inning the score stood 41 to 32 in favor of the Mohawks. It was neces essary for the Blues to make ten runs to win the game. Dawson was first to bat and gained first base, stole second and was put out at third. Bush batted to the pitcher and failed to reach first.Two men out and no score and no one on bases. Te Mohawks were jubilant.

Crow made a two base hit and scored on Dale's excellent drive over the cen ter fielder's head. Palmer made a good hit, allowing Dale to score while he reached second on errors. Buxton made a two base hit and Palmer' scored. Welsh sent a daisy clipper past the left fielder, making third while Buxton scored. Kueker sent the center fielder 0:25 p.

It is true that in this industry we are somewhat youthful, but we will soon grow large enough to surprise the world. Some good Republicans are talking seriously of bolting certain candidates if they are nominated.

Scott was at that time, however, at college, fitting himself for the ministry, and was lucky enough to escape the painful necessity of forming our acquaintance. If he possesses any of the characteristics of the Scott family the people of Bennington are to be congratulated upon having secured his services as their minister; for the general verdict of the people in our neighborhood was that there was not a more honest or conscientious man in Doniphan county than Uncle Joseph Scott. -We never tire of sounding the praises of Ottawa county. We claim that her soil is equal to the best in the state. We have seen beets, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, Irish potatoes, turnips, radishes, that were which were hard to be beat, but when compared with Ottawa county products they sink into insignificance.

We saw a sweet potato Tuesday that weighed oyer ten pounds, and through the kindness of Mr. Joseph Langston we have this week been feasting on a sweet potato and we have enough of it left to last us over Sunday, at the least calculation. Mr. Langston left a few commonplace productions at Walters and Bonham's real estate office, which, if they had been raised in Ohio or Illinois'1 would have set the eastern press wild. To-morrow's convention promises to be one of the most exciting ever held in Ottawa county.

Outside of Clerk and Register of deeds, it would be a difficult matter to name the lucky candidates. A dark horse stands a good chance of getting the nomination for Sheriff unless Mr. Powrell, who is now in the lead, gets the nomination on the first ballot. So far as heard from there are only seven candidates for Treasurer. An excellent list to select from, and the strongest man should be nominated as the Democrats have made the best nomination possible for that office.

For the benefit of our delegates we name T. Lord as the strongest and best qualified man for the place. It is probable that D. Crosby will capture the nomination for Surveyor, having the advantage over Mr. Richards of being an old resident of the county.
