Editor Register The editor of the Southren Argus raps you roughly on the shoulder in reply to the item that I communicated for publication in your issue two weeks since concerning "Five colored men on foot with bag and baggage in hand and on back walked through our town ou Wednesday morning, and considerable stir teacher, teaching at intervals in Cincinnati, Padueah, and Evansville, Ind. In ApriL 1879, he was married to Miss Virginia A.

Gordon, daughter of the wealthy colored coal merchant of Cincinnati. After the death of the elder Gordon he gave up teaching to engage in the practice of law, having been admitted to the bar in 1884. Mr. Jackson is one of those men who are assisting very materially in the elevation of the race. He is a man of excellent attainments, studious habits, and always alert to the interests of the race.

In appearance Mr. Jackson is a handsome man, being above the aver JOPLIN JOTTINGS. As for Joplin I am able to say she is still in the lead and still they are coming. Mr. Jacques, of Kansas City, has moved his family to this city and is in business here.
