Mr. Kyser's school closed last Friday, and his scholars and those of Miss Cora Potts' school, which closed two or three weeks earlier, with well-lilled baskets and accompanied by their teachers, parerts, and a few invited friends drove in wagons and buggies to Mr. Chart wick's grove, four miles south of town, to celebrate tho event. While the good mamas were spreading the dinner out upon the green grass, Mr. Kyser, Mr.

Romberg, and we big boys were making swings, and the big girls ere "churning" the ice cream, so that no time should be wasted. We were soon called to dinner, and we all rallied around the long heap of good things and ate and ate and aits, and then we swung and swung, and made whistles, and ate ice cream, and gathered flowers, and made wreaths, and had a splendid time until about live o'clock, and then they began to hitch up the horses and we knew we would have to go home, so we just pulled Mr. Chadwick's bushes all to pieces and made wreaths all the way home. you just ought to have been there!
