March 9 Tournament March 15-16 Oskaloosa was defeated by our High School team February 21 by a score of 21 to 17. The team defeated the Faculty by a small score of 18-16. The game was rough from start to finish and some thought it a first class football game. The St. Joe Central High School second team made the trip to Effingham to show us how to play basketball.

We let them know that we needed 'not their coaching by defeating them 32-15. The boys got together from the start and played together the whole game. March 9 our team made the long trip to Oskaloosa. They came back with the short end of a 36-31 score. Friday we went to Horton to take part in the District Tournament.

In the drawing we got Severance for our first game. After many changes in the schedule and much anxiety about players we played them at 7 p. m. Severance had only been defeated once up to this time, that by the town team. However, we had little trouble in defeating them and the Our second game was with Atchison.

It began at about 11:15 p. m. We finished about midnight. The late hour is the only reason we give for the defeat. Even at that Atchison did not score very heavily, the score being 14-4.

In the games Atchison and Valley Falls put up one of the best girls' games ever witnessed at Horton. There was snap and go to the game all the time and Atchison only won by two or three points. Atchison's teams, both boys and girls, were defeated in the finals, the boys by Topeka and the girls by Hiawatha. Everybody who went to Horton to play basketball seemed to feel that Horton deserves many thanks for the fine entertainment they provided for their guests. The team as it has been playing is as follows: Virgil Nidy R.

F. Herbert Hawk. F. Roy Turner Ollie Thomas (capt) G. Neil Shell G.

Subs--Joe Coupe and LeRoy Bollen. The Base Ball season opens with a game here Friday, March 23, with Whiting. Y. M. C.

A. NOTES. The officers for next year have been elected. They are: Milton Cummings President Judson Vice President Maurice Richter Roy Turner Treasurer The boys held a social meeting Tuesday evening, March 5th. The evening was spent in contests and several of the boys were "initiated" into the organization.
