1G, 1S96. To the Centralia Timks. In my last I gave you an account of frontier life or tho life of the orginal Floridian, I will now try to tell you how the northern people live in Florida. The most of the northern people in Florida arc aged people who have lived well in the north and have accumulated wealth and have come to Florida to spend the remainder of their days in the Garden of Eden of America, and well might we call this the garden of Eden had it not been for the freeze in February of Here in this laud of sunshine, flowers and orange, with pleasant days in the year, why should not people enjoy themselves. It is a beautiful spring garden ull the around.

The sea breezes play gen Hi" across the peninsula from west and from west to east, cooling the rays of the sun until in midsummer it is ns pleasaut as a Kansas June day and when you see tho beautiful pal-acial homes t-bat these people have buiit you would not wonder why they ai-e so contented and do so liltlo work. We must remember that a largo portion of these people have the mile stones of three score years, and many are three score years and ten and a few are past four score yvars and a few are on their sick bod "and hayo come here with hopes of regaining' their health. Is It any wonder that people of poor health and aged people should be delighted with the climate i and have unbounded faith iu their state. Kausas and Florida are direct oppo-sitcs to each other not only in their relative position in location but in ie coudtry, soil and climate. Kansas is a rolling prairie without timber or lakes, with boisterous winds and was settled by poor people who haye grown rich as the country improved.

Florida is a level country with sandy soil, pine timber, beautiful lakes and swamps and has largely been settled by people of wealth who haye not come here to work but to enjoy life. Hero wo find towns and cities along the railroad and thickly settled in close proximity to the towns and then a strip of woods often several miles in width before we come to the next town or settlement. You may ask what can one do here than any other paper in the country. Send for "Statistics of tho War" ''Lincoln's Words," Memoranda." The Farm He cord of Indianapolis. is a bright, hustling, wide-awake, sixteen psge monthly journal published at 50 cents a year by C. Vincent, formerly with the Nonconformist in Kansas, aud it is thoroughly alive to the needs of the iarmers and full of sensible and businesss-like suggestions as to how the most can be made from farm life. Most farm papers from the East have little in common with our western and southern people, and, knowsng but little of our surroundings, they do not reach the point of making themselves indespensablo to tho farmer. This is not the case with the Farm Record, for its editor was reared in the West and spent last summer here and is fully acquainted with the peculiar position of the western and southern farmer.

He is also familiar in a general way with the needs of this class in all parts of tho countryj having personally visited every agricultural state in the union. It seems probable that the presentation of the resolution as based ujon the. idea that the mover could use as a whip in its favor the plea that rejection would injuro the iositicn of the country. The good old Monroe doctrine is entirely satisfactory, and can not bo unproved by any tinkering. It is broad enough and strong enough for every pui pose for tne present and for all the future. The contention of foreign governments is that the Monroe doctrine has not the force of formal enactment and is a doctrine onlv.
