Grigsby was born Illinois, March 16th, 1841, and died at her home near Prairie View, Kansas, Feb. 23rd, 1920, Left an orphan at an early age, she was given a home by Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Hughes. While still a small child she went with her foster parents to Missouri, On March '25th, 1863, she was married to Mr.

Robert P. Thomas; ten children were born to this union. all of whom survive her except the oldest son, George, who died in 1888. Her husband departed this life in October 1919. In 1873, she with her husband and children moved to the homestead near Prairie View, Kansas, where they have resided ever since.

She was a devoted, self sacalficing life and mother, a loyal friend and a devout Christian; her children will indeed rise up and call her blessed.
