Franklin of Mapleton who has been the guest of her son B. M.Franklin and daughter Mrs. Wm. Lamb returned home Monday, her granddaughter Miss Pearl Helton accompanying her. Frank Spradley of Prairie View neighborhood was very pleasantly surprised last Tuesday evening by a goodly number of his young friends coming to spend the evening and celebrate his 21st birthday anniversary.

Clyde Bidwell was pleasantly surprised last Saturday evening, that being his 19th birthday, by thirty or more of his young friends who came to spend the evening, which was passed in pleasant games after which a dainty lunch was served. F. P. Ewing and Peter Adkins took the train for Garnett last Thursday, returning Friday. John Makenson brought his sister and daughter to take the train for Mound City Thursday. Mr.

Porter, who purchased Charlie Johnson's farm last yar has moved on the farm himself. There was a magic lantarn entertainment by Earl Scranton Monday night at the school house. Mrs. Thos. Church and eon Tommy were the quests of Mr.
