THE HERALD, NORWICH, KANSAS Popular Young People Wed Milton News Now Who Beat The Gym Milton school district decided by a verv close. vote that they did not want any High Gym. There are two sides to the gym questien. Some farmers say that many basket ball coaches teach dishonesty by encouraging "'any thing to win" methods. It is true that a dishonest player is a dishonest worker.

At the basket. ball tournament at Friends the coaches were required to state, sign, swear or some such pledge. that the boys on their teams did not use tobacco. Some of the coaches knowingly lied for their teams' and that certainly does not teach honesty. We do notwant teachers who do that.

Some farmers were against the Gym because the boys play after school instead of coming home to help with the work and then gO back after supper and stay late, W. H. Buttle of Winfield is visiting E. R. Butler and family, Chas.

Six has been on the list for two or three days. The Boy Scouts are not having their regular meetings now on account of the absence of Scout Master, Frank Leuven, who is away at school. Doze John Doze was born in Drake county Ohio, March 23rd, in1837 He passed away at his home in Norwich June 16, 1921. Thus he lived to the age of 84 years, 2 months and 24 His! parents moved to Iowa and then to Sullivan countty, Missouri. In 1861 he married Miss Mary Osborn who died after a number of years at the age of fifty years. Their children were Victor, Ellen. William, George ard Henryetta.

In 1871 Mr. Doze married Miss Mary E. Stan'ey. Martin and, Estella of this union are still living but three children have gone beyond, Mr. Doze moved to this vicinity forty years ago and has lived the life of a respect ed citizen.

He confessed his faith in Christ and was baptised twelve years ago. He was charter member of the Odd Fe'lows in Norwich. Two brothers survive him. George and P. P.

both live here; one sister, Mrs. Ella Daily. lives in Iowa, was present at the funeral, A sister, aunt Polly Cimpbell, has been with him for several years. Rev.L. B.

Myres preached the funeral sermon at the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. H. J. Donaldson. The interment was in the Upchurch Cemetary.

Smith, pastor of the first Christian Church o1 Hutchinson in the presence of a few relatives.

As Mr. Clothier had only two days leave of absence from his position a as assistant cashier of the bank at Hollyrood, the honey moon tour was limited to visits with their parents and friends at Kingman and Norwich. At the latter place the groom donned his farmer attire and spent the day in his father's harvest field where help was really needed. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

McConaughey of Quincy, Kansas. She is a very- popular teacher and was one of the r- wich faculty for two years. While here she made many friends among the parents as well as pupils. Last year she had charge of the seventh and eighth grade at Kingman and was a-ked to take the positisn the con.ing year. The groom is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. W. E. Clothier who live one half mile west of Norwich. He is a favorite in his home town and at home and at the Cristian Church he will be greatly missed as he was their standby as young people representative.

Sargent Clothier made a splendid record as a mien. ber of company E. 353 infantry, 89th division, in the service in France but a promising career was arrested by his being gassed. The new family are at home in Hols10od where they have purseased a nice home Truc Greatness. True greatness is the struggle to be Phillips Stewart.
