WA 1 ME TT3 TO THE PUBLIC As we are getting cable and other material to re construct all of our lines we wish our patrons to be patient with the service while our system is undergoing new construction. This to be completed this fall. A social event was enjoyed at the A. Marshall home north of this city Sunday with a big dinner as the ptincipal feature.

Those present were: A. Houdashelt, wife and daughter, Miss Edna Burch, Mrs. Matilda Smith and son Ike, and Miss Led a Parker, of Parsons, G. L. Marshall and family and Jas.

McFarland and wife. Elder J. W. McLaughlin preached at the Christian church again Wednesday night. His sermons are much appreciated by those who bear them, but perhaps he 'vill not be with us but a few weeks longer as the church mm I Sae.

It may not be his last and yet It may be. Maurice Mullin returned from his trip to Dodge City Wednesday accompanied by his brother Daniel who will visit a few days with home folks and his many friends in this community.

He will return to Dodge City Sunday. Rev. E. B. Brown, of Erie, preached at the Baptist church in this city Tuesday evening.

Rev. Brown will attend tr Southeast Baptist Association at L. ilena this week and then go to Eureka Springs, where he was formerly pastor, for a few week's rest. Attention Parents! School time is just about here, your boys and girls need stationery, pencils, inks and the like. Our line was never better fitted to meet that need.

The horse started without warning and in an endeavor to save herself, Miss Bohlander caught a beam overhead and when her full weight came onto her she could not hold in that position and she fell on some lumber indicting a serious wound near ber eye and extending down her left cheek. The Eastern Star gave a picnic in J. F. Woodworth grove Wednesday in honor of Misses Anna Woodworth and Mary Dillenback who are soon to leave for their schools.

The picnic consisted of a nice social time in the woods, a big basket dinner and a fine supply of watermelon School begins Monday. Ha ye you bought your school supplies yet? James Miller Sunday with all of the family present exeept their son William and family. The occasion was in honor of the visit of Mr. and Mrs. H. P.

Cook, of Paducah, who were visiting in this community. Mr. Cook is a nephew of Mr. Miller. Fifty-three relatives and friends and neighbors were present, and at noon the guests were all treated to an old-fashioned feast, which is only being opened In Walnut.

This we think would be a profitable investment. Also there is some talk of an electric light and ice plant. Geo. Romp, the mill man, saya he is ready to do his part any time. Are there any other people who would like to see this improvement and have the money to back up their enthusiasm? Walnut is centrally located and should draw trade from a much larger territory than it does at present.

Mrs. A. L. Ryberg and daughter Marie, of Humboldt, will arrive this afternoon for a brief visit with D. Whitehead and fan iiy.

Tomorrow the two families will spend the da at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Comer at inursday ana Friday or last weeK.
