LIGHTNING'S WOllK. On last Saturday morning a group of oioiuis passad over town, and for tin space of iiO minutes the heavens were ablaze with sharp and intensely vivid flushes of lightning, whiwh played atti wart the skies in rapid succession. At the lime lha thunder shower was passing over, a tam belonging to Fos-som's livery ofNorton were being hitched to a buggy in Harry Godfrey's yard, when ey became suddenly frightened at a loud aad sharp nlap thunder and made a dash around the yard, upsetting the bugijT, snapping the pole into, and colliding with a buggy belongiag to ilfr. I'sehtel of Alma, which was standing in the yard, lioth. buggys were slightly damaged.

A number of rail road men working in a cut just west of town, were badly shaken up by a bolt of light uing descending in close proximity to their work. Several of the men wera knocked suuseless, but strange to say sustained no serious injury. Aside from the lightning's work related abov no further damage was known until last Sunday afternoon, when JMr, Godfrey had occasion to go out to his pasture, when he made the horrifying discovery that a splendid brood mare, her colt and 2 line yearling colts had fell victims to the lightning's freak Sat urday morning. They ware lying sida by-side with their heads all pointing in the same direction, and evidently met their from th same fatal loolt. Harry estimates hi loss at $300, and naturally feels very much grieved over his misfortune.
