Smith left Thursday for his home near Prairie View, where he will 6tay till he looses his grippe. Dr. Fugate went over tt Kirwin Tuesday after his daughter whom he was expecting to meet at that place. Salvation armies seem to be going out of style. We have heard of but few this winter and none in this part of the state.

Elder Franklin has traded for 40 acres of land belouging to Chas. Turner, just west of town where he will move in the near future. We would like to have two or three correspondents from the townships ad joining us. Any Items sent us will be thankfully received. Next Monday is the day set to giye us a new school district, find tlion a nn school house will be one of the next Im provements in our town.

There will be an examination of teach ers held at Philiipsburg, Kansas, in the school house on Saturday, January 25th, 1890, beginning at o'clock, a. m. W. W. Colbt, Co.

Superintendant. Dr. Fugate is certainly gaining quite a reputation among the people of Agra and vicinity, may we judge irom the many calls he is making of late. The only objection the people has against him is that he is hardly ever in his office, alway out to see a patient, Dr. J.

H. Ely, of Norton, will deliver an address in the school house at tills place to the teacher's meeting next Saturday week. The Doctor has a wide reputation as an orator and educator and every one should go and hear him. To the secretary ot the subordinate Alliances of Phillips County, Kansas.
