Last Saturdav afternoon Harvey H. Stoneback and Miss Gertrude Lippe, both well known young people of this community, very pleasantly surprised their many friends by making a quiet trip to Clay Center, where they were united in marriage by Rev. H. G.

Mathis, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The ceremony was performed at the Presbyterian Manse at five o'clock, in the presence of a number of immediate relatives of the young couple. Bodine, Mrs. Ernest Hull and Mrs. W. H. Lennard chaperoned a party of young ladies to Stillwater for a fishing trip.

They took their lunch baskets and at six o'clock all enjoyed a picnic supper. The young ladies were Misses Helen and Kari Ness, Ruth Bodine, Annie McLavy, Helen Lennard, Ruby Provost, lima Glass, Gretchen Hagenbuch, Eileen Davis, Gladys Peterson, Mildred Rasmussen, Mildred Forney, Ber- mal School at Emporia and has The L. W. T. club of Mulberry township gave a line party at the Elite theatre last Saturday night.

About thirty were present. After the show they drove to the Richard Roenigk home where they spent the balance of the evening in playing names, listening to music and readings and having a general good time. The following officers were elected Miss Emma Wiess, president; Miss Anna Roenigk, vice president, and Miss Edna Roenigk, secretary and treasurer. After the business meeting, refreshments were served. taught school in this county for two years.

Eleven members and thirteen visitors were present. The visitors were, Mesdames R. B. Smith, F. L.

Fletcher, J. W. Howell, Walter Merten, and L. D. Huff, Misses Helen and Kari Ness, Edna Petermeyer, Gretchen Hagen-bnch, Ella Hughes, Meda Howell, Bessie Denman, and Edith Blanc.

Those in the party were Misses Ruth Bodine, Helen and Kari Ness, Lily and Manila Young, Daisy and Anna Halverson, Gladys Peterson, Annie McLavy, Helen Lennard, Gretchen Hagenbuch, Ruby Provost, Edith Doty, Olga Johnson, and Ieda Holt. and Mrs. Harvey Stoneback gave everybody in the community a wedding "treat" Tuesday evening when they opened the doors of the Elite theatre and gave a free performance of the celebrated Pathe feature "Via Wireless," one of the finest photoplays ever shown in Morganville. Mr. and Mrs. C.

D. Stewart entertained the following at dinner last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Stewart, Mr.

and Mrs. Ernest Miller and Mrs. J. C. Edwards and mother, Mrs.

Huffman. the young people of this community and her many Jfriends in Morganville welcome her to this city. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.

G. Stoneback of this city. He is a graduate of the county high school and has been teaching in this community for several years. He will continue his school work for another year at least. He is an industrious, manly young fellow with many friends who unite in wishing him and his estimable bride every possible happiness.

Mrs. G. Ahlberg was called to Iowa last evening on account of the illness of her son Gust. nice Rexroat, Emma Kolling, Helen Barnes, Francis Allen and Daisy Halverson. Harry Ijennard and Cameron Marshall were the official worm custodians and hook baiters.

Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Woolsey of this city received a message the first of the week from their son, Hugh, stating that he had enlisted in the signal corps of the Colorado National Guards and had been assigned to battery C.

The Colorado Guards left yesterday for the Mexican border. Mr. and Mrs. I. Rhodes of Clifton visited at C.

L. Miller's Sunday. Otto Kappelman, who is well known to many people in this city, is with Co. 2nd K. N.

New officers were elected as follows; Mrs. Mina Mead, president; Mrs. G. B. Kappelman, vice president; Mrs.

L. V. Silver, secretary; and Mrs. E. E.
