Vol, i. DETROIT, DICKINSON KANSAS THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 1898. No. 3. This week we received a copy of the Free Press published by Jim Roulston and wife at Detroit, Kans.

It is a fair sample of work that Jim generally accomplishes and will no doubt meet the demands of his patrons, with few criticisms, Sylvan Alert. To cui subscribers we will furnish her own. The much talked of new newspaper of this county has made it's appearance and the little village of Detroit boasts of a three column quarto, the first of which was published last Thursday. It contains no mention or politics or anything calculated to give the publisher's views on politics. There is plenty of room for the Free Press to grow at Detroit and probably, no danger of a second paper; starting up there soon.

We wish the publishers much Hope Dispatch. any of the following named papers in connection wun mis paper one-, year Detroit people are getting mighy stuck up since they have a paper of their own. The first issue of the Detroit (Kansas) Free Press made its appearance last Thursday. It is a three column quarto but as it siys.the town is small and our paper must necessarily be the same." It will be neutral in politics and the publisher promises to make improvements as fast as the circumstances warrant. -Enterprise Journal.

Roulston, Detroit, Wc; had been anxious to see this paper, wondered where the ma-terial would come from but we find that the proprietor also runs a shoe shop and our doubts are all removed. Roulston is again embarked in the newspaper business, this time at Detroit, Dickinson county. His paper is the Detroit Free Piess, and the first issue is. dated April 7. Mrs Roulston is associate editor. Lincoln Beacon.

J. Roulston, who is probably neither superstitious nor easily discouraged, will start, his paper at Detroit today, when the first, issue is expected to make its appearance, "What's the matter with She has a "Detroit Free Press" of ftEs.
