Howell--Charles Howell, a prominent farmer of the Brush Creek neighborhood, died at his home four miles south of Everest, Tuesday, December 9, 1919, of Bright's disease.

John Clay Chamberlain was born in Cumberland county, April 15, 1840, and departed this life December 4, 1919, aged 79 years, 7 months and 19 days. In August, 1862, he enlisted, and was mustered into Co. I 130th Pennsylvania infantry, and was in some of the hardest fought battles of the war, and after being mustered out in 1865, he moved to Franklin county, Ohio, where he was married to Eliza Postle. Unto this union were born six children, all of whom have preceded him in death except Eva Jacobs, of Memphis, and Hayes Chamberlain, of Everest. During the fall of 1881 the family moved to Brown county, Kansas, where Mrs.

Chamberlain died during January, 1883. In. August, 1883, he was united in marriage to Ophelia Pierce, and to them were born John of Everest; Kitty of Hiawatha; Mrs. O. Pierson, of Hiawatha; George of Fairbury, and Willis of the U.

S. navy. The funeral was held at Dale Hargis, of Kansas City, spent the week-end with home folks. Miss Mayme Haynes is a new at the J. A.
