Monday evening a small party of friends gathered informally at the hospitable rooms of J.

S. Gibson, and sisters, on Silver Avenue. The evening w7as spent most delightfully with amusementB of various kinds. Refreshments were served, which consisted of all the toothsome dainties the season affords. At a late hour the party disbanded, all voting a roval good time.

The council met in regular session last night. Councilmen present Morgan, Covert, and Evinger, absent, Norris and Dary. The bill of costs in the case of the city vs. John Babbitt and John Andrews, $11.65, was allowed. J.

IlmtAi.p: The fourth annual meeting of the Central Kansas Teachers' Association ill meet at Mc-Pherson Thanksgiving evening, and continue its sessions the following day. It will be the largest association with the best programme, ever held in this part of the state.

Every teacher in Rice county ought to attend when an association next in size and interest to the State Teacher's Association is so near. Even teacher that becomes a menv ber will be given complimentary ticket to the noted lecture by Hon. Leo Woodruff of Michigan, on Thanksgiving evening. Ask your board to dismiss school for Thanksgiving and the day following. Teach some Saturday to make up the time.
