Woodmen from Lyon, Coffee, Wilson, Elk, Butler an Chase counties helped to swell one of the largest crowds ever gathered in Madison. It is estimated that between 5000 and G000 people were in Madison. The town was decorated with Woodmen colors and symbols. An arch of welcome was erected in the square and decorated with corn and other Kansas grains. The square had a stand of green corn on each corner.
