Tlie ITEsteor. 1 Last Tuesday evening, shortly after nine o'clock, a brilliant meteor shot into the sky from the southeast and traveled rapidly through the heavens toward the northwest where it seemed to explode. The explosion was followed by a rumbling noise resembling distant thunder. The meteor had a red bluish appearance foilowed with a tail of red and blue, emitting a soft yellowish light. Below we give accounts of it as seen in other places: "At 9:30 o'clock last evening an unusually large and brilliant meteor traversed our atmosphere from southeast toward f- the northwest.

It lighted up the 'entire town arid country with a glare that dimmed the electric lights; People who saw the interesting and startling visitor describe it as a 'bright ball of glaring bluish-white flame, and Mr. F. B. Fullington says it struck terra firrna within a few foot of his house, and after a fitful gleam or two, flickered out, like an exhausted tallow dip. About ten minutes after the disappearance of the meteor a sound like a mufSed peal of thunder seemed to roll through the clear sky in the direction the meteor had taken, accompanied by the trembling sensation that EToes with distant heavv Lester Widem an sold a house and lot to Mrs.
