Jerome is the best trading point in Govo County. We want a correspondent in every neighborhood. The Scott County coal rumor bas com pletely died out. Gove county has but very little sickness; Jerome none. The hotel will be moved into town the first of the month.

Everybody busy breaking. Literary closed last Friday night. Quite a large attendance at Sunday School. Our genial doctor, Mr. C.

J. M. Bowman, County Surveyor, returned Monday from his surveying trip south of Dighlon. After March 1st Litton Pierce suy all parties getting a credit from llieui of over $5.00 will have to give security. Mr.

We are indeed glad to hear of the Globe resuming its editorial standard again, and under the present management it cannot help but be as wide awake and newsy a paper as is edited in Gove coun ty. V.

Lincoln Journal: "The free trade brethren point to the strikes and kicks and boycotts of American protected workmen as an unanswerable argument gainst the shutting out of competition of Dauper labor in Europe. There is some force in the argument. Doubtless if wages were reduceed in this country to 30 cents per d-iy basis that we find in Europe there would be fewer Hirikes.

The poor devils would be too hungry to strike. Upon the whole, however, we prefer to see the laboring men of ihf United States paid well to aliie to afford a strike once in awhile. II. Post, of Sandusky. Ohio, is visit ing his cousin, Frank Wright. This is Mr. Post's second visit to this county, he be ing out hete a year ago.

There is a meeting of real estate men of Gove and adjoining counties in Grain-field, Thursday. They will discuss the best interests of western Kansas. If those persons wno purchase lots in some imaginary Florida town would invest their money in Govs county real estate they would realize more profit. A. P.

Eikenbery, one of the solid dem ocrats of Gove County, and slo one of her best farmers, paid us our firm $1.00 supsciiption. Hope he will not be sorry of it. H. John A. Nelson, of Wa-Keeney, will be a candidate for State Senator from this district this fall. This honorable and accomplished gentleman would make an efficient officer. Our readers will have to excuse the rather sta'e matter in our patent. We have use some old paper in order to get out on time We will make up for it in future excellence.

There is but little doubt now that the Nickle Plate will cross the Missouri Pacific at Shields, and if it dot-a Jerome has better chances for securing it than any place in the county. J. M. Veron, Illinois, Monday, killed thirty-six persons, and wounded scores of others. Over half a million dollars worth of property was destroyed. It seemes that cyclones have commenced harvesting early. John J. Marshall, of northwestern Lane, was in town Saturday, making an application for a loan of W.

II. Murphy. John bas one of the best claims in this part of the country, and is much in need of a partner to help him hold it down. Utica, Ness county, had quite a boom a month ago over the securing a division of the Missouri Pacific, but a failure to find water has slopped work on the round house and in all probabilities the division will be located in some town lurtner west. Utica boom is over.

A. D. Montgomery, of Diehlon, a pas senger of the north-bound hack, Monday, made this office a pleasant can. Jones took in the leap year dance at Gove City last week. E. B. Miller and wife spent Saturday of last week in Healey. There are 29,264 acres of railroad land in Gove county still unsold.

There will be a great deal of fencing done in this county this year. All hope of the Nickle Plate has not yet left the hearts of our people. Kansas will catch the largest emmi gration this year she has ever bad. Watch for Dillon Montgomery's ad vertisement In next week's paper. J.

II. Tysoa was up to Gove City last Friday on a purchasing expedition. The Gove County Graphic's pictorial department shows rare artistic skill. Blaine has declined to allow his name to be used in the Republican convention. W.
