Govt; City, tlie county Beat of Govk County, lies tlie center of the county on the north bank of thp. The town was platted in the' fall of 1885 and building wan commenced the next spring. October 19th, 1886, it was selected as the county seat, since which time it has moved steadily forward. In January, 1888, it was organized as a citv of the third class, and wifl make some gigantic stride this year. Gove City as originally laid out covered 160 acres, and, with the additions fTiit.

The United Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists and Presbyterians have church organizations and hold services regularly, and the attendance at Union Sabbath School runs from 75 to 100 every Sunday. The Ladies Library Association has a library.M from 150 to 175 volumes, to'which they are constantly adding new books. A hack runs from here to Gramfield, our rail road station 10 miles north, twice ev-ery day except Sunday.
