A. Maxwell. A meeting of all the jobbing and manufacturing cities of the state will be held at Topeka on June 29th. The fact that the railroad commissioners stood by their action in giving Wichita terminal rates, is the whyfore of this meeting. We believe in having our county commissioners travel in style when off on a tour of inspection for material etc for county buildings, but $000, is a good '-jack pot" for the expenses of three or four men on a 10 days trip to Colorado.

Three weeks from yesterday is July 1th. If Clearwater is going to cele brate there is not moment to lose in making preparations. The Santa Fe railroad company have perfected arrangements whereby they will be enabled to carry freight, in there own cars, to St. Louis, after June 15tk.

The repert that this great railroad company was financially in a crippled condition, seems to have been all wind. We predict, that if crops are good this year, the Santa Fe will not only be carrying freight to St. Louis, but will own its own track to that point in less than two years. Tuesday, the 18th, is the day set for voting $14200 townsup bonds far a bridge across the Ninnescah river at Hess' ford. We are in favor of this bridge because we sanction improve ment and progress.

The increase in your taxes by reason of these bonds wont amount to 60 cents. The com missioners have given $1,500 towards it, it is badly needed and every man in favr of public improvement will, we believe, support the' proposition. Next Tuesday is the date.
