Now if we bad an average of one sugar factory in eacli township that would work the cane grown on four sections of land (leaving the other 32 sections for ordinary crops) the output of sugar in Kansas would be 2,560,000 lbs from each factory, and 2,225 that amount or 2,848,000 tons from the state.

This calculation is made on the basis of working one ninth of the land. If we were to use one third of our sugar lands for the production of sugar, we would produce over 8i million tons or enough to supply'twice the present demand. Figures wont lie. Kansas is ahead by a large majority. If there is any other sugar producing district that wants to compare possibilities or probabilities, let somebody speak in their behalf.

Well, the great Oklahoma convention is over; Wichita has been the gainer as she usually is in any great move made for the development of the great Southwest. Temporarlally, the Southern tier of counties may be losers; but this will but for a short time only. After the flush of the first excitement is over, the thinking class will stop and ponder and wonder why this mad rush to an unknown land. About this time they will have reached the beautiful prairies of Southern Kansas and their admiration will be so great that they will buy some fellow out who offers his farm tor half its worth and thus Kansas will be the winner in the end. We are going to make a prophecy; now mark this; if Oklahoma is opened to settlement within the next year and Kansas is blest with good crops, Wichita will have 10,000 more population than any city in Kansas in 1892.
