Six years atro his brother sent him mon-ey to come here from a state in the ast that he had lived on a rented farm for'fifteen years and where at the end of that time although he wanted to come west he did not have the means to come without the help from his brother who had come here years ago. He came out in the six years he has done so well that he owns free of encumbrance a quarter section of improved land, has six head of good horses and some cattle. He could sell out and pay all of his debts and go back to Illinois with 94,000 where he left six years ago by the aid. of his brother. Yet this fellow says that a white man had never ought to come to this country that it would-break any man who tried it and all such remarks-as that.

The fact of the matter is the last two years have not been very good years but if he has made a living in the last two years, that shows that he made a thousand dollars a year, the four years prior to the last two. which was not so bad for a man with a family and no capital. We do not blame fellows for getting discouraged some times, we do when the tide runs a little strong against us but after all it is hardly fair to condemm a bridge-that has carried you across safely, nor is it right to run down a country where you have made more money in six years than you have in fifteen years in the garden spot of all the world.
