Some new classes will be found 20, and no better time for enrolling can be found this year. The party at Miss Bertha Peterson last Friday evening was a success. Bill Sprague and Edgar Peterson returned to school at Salina Sunday previous to their trouble visited Gove City with the Dighton Minstrel and the Dighton base ball team and how, after kifling the mayor of Kinsley they, fled and in their escape how they visited Farnsworth and the humiliating and ric iculous stunts they put old man Green through, then residing at Farnsworth. Many will remember how they threw a cowboy saddle across his back and rode the old man at the point of the spur, all around the loft of his barn, and other laughable pranks, finally fleeing into Logsn county where their capture was effected and the way in which they were sentenced to the penitentiary for life, young as they were. It will act to refresh the incident in the minds of many.

INGF Sentences are Commuted. Topeka, Dec. Governor Hoch this afternoon commuted to eighteen years the life sentences of William Harvey and Carl Arnold, who were sent to the penitentiary from Edwards county in November, 1894, on a charge of murder in the first degree. They killed the mayor of Kinsley, John Marsh. They had been in Oklahoma and were returning to Lane county, their home.

They attempted robbery and killed Mayor Marsh. They were sentenced for life. One was 16 and the other 18 years old. Counting off good time they will get out of the penitentiary in May 1909. Arnold nas written a book entitled "Prison Punishments" whicn has attracted much attention.

The above item taken from the Dighton Herald will be of interest to many of our readers especially those down around Gove and the south part of the county, as the case leading to the chase and arrest of these two boys, made our county a patty to the scenes. 8 L. T. Trebbe manager of the Frederick telephone exchange and a prominent business man of Frederick, was arrested here last night on a complaint sworn out by the Lorraine State bank charging him with forging endorsements on a number of notes and disposing of them to the bank. Trebbe was in Ellsworth yesterday attempting to sell the Frederick Telephone company to the Ellsworth Telephone company when he wasjarrested. It is not known yet the total amount of money secured by Trebbe but it is said that the aggregate will be fully $650 and possibly He is said to have forged the endorsements of prominent farmers near Frederick to five notes, and on these notes he secured about $650 cash from the Lorraine bank.

An attempt is being made by Tiebbe to dispose of his telephone exchange and make good the loss to the bank. A meeting of the bank officials with friends of Trebbe was held last night, but it is not known as yet what will be the outcome of the conference. It is rumored that the proceedings against may be dismissed if he makes good the loss to the bank. Some of the forged notes have been in the possession of the bahk for several weeks, but the fact that they were forged did not come to light until yesterday. Salina Journal.
