U. Dodo 10-S-wS Kegteter. 5E Shooting Scrape. A very unfortunate affair took place at the house of Silas Mcintosh, a mile and a half south of Palmer, Washington county. A party had met here to dance, and some dissatisfaction was expressed at the fiddlers wanting to dance part of the time.

Some of the boys stepped outside and were talking about this and saying that they paid the fiddlers, they wanted them to play. One of the party bad been taking the place of a fiddler while he danced, the rest of the boys asked him not to do it again. Mr. Mcintosh came out and supposing tbey were drinking told them to take their whisky off the farm, as he did not want them to drink it there. The boys told blm they were not drinking, lie called them liars, when a man named House knocked him down.

Mcintosh drew a revolver and shot in amongst the group, bitting Henry Wilson in the left side. Some one, it is supposed to be Wilson, then ebot at Mcintosh, hitting him just above the left eye. ne cannot recover, and is probably not alive when this is A CRY FOR HELP. ANSWERED. In 1865 Mr. Glick considered the colored man not a fit associate for the white man and put himself on record in the proceedings of the Kansas Legislature as opposed to giving a colored man equality with a white man. In 1881 he considers that a negro's vote is pecded by nim as much as a whiie pan's; but he thinks they can be at a low figure. The following Jetter written by Gov. Glick during the present summer Indicates his feelings Itoward the colored men and he designs be and his associates have upon the voters.

The "means" mentioned have arrived from the east and the slush fund js overflowing. Let the colored man look out for himself. Executive Department, Topeka, Kansas, July 25, 1884. Mr Dear Sir: There seems to be a deal of dissatisfaction with the nomination of Col. Martin in all parts of the State.

The prohibitionists consider that they have been badly treated. Th auti-prohibltionists consider the platform an insult to them; and hence neither side is specially satistied. As you say; the Germans generally throughout the State will not vote for Col. Martin. -Whether the colored vote I managed or not, I am not pre-, pared to say.

If I had the means to net some party to work in the matter. I have no doubt but the matter could jbe disposed of very successfully. The way democracy manage them in Atchison county is to trade votes with them. It was done in my case before the colored men voting for me, and the democrats voting for MOCabe, It nade a difference of about two hundred votes in Atchison county. It was also done very extensively in Leaven worth and Douglas counties.

Of course could not be any party to the transaction, but I learned afterward what was done. I hope the democracy of your country will organize and man matters so that they can secure the mipport of the antl-prohlbitlon republicans; they are having consultations In this city as to what course they will pUrsue.
