Please bear this in mind, come ano take part in the good work, and bring along your neighbors who attend no services. In working earnestly for the spiritual welfare of others, you cannot but be richly blessed yourself. Dead fish drift with the current. Let us be alive, stem the tide and take others along to the landing at that better harbor in a brighter, happier The. Lenten Season.

"Behold! we go up to Jerusalem," Luke. This- day Lutherans turn their iaces toward the Holy City, in contemplating the life, death and resurrection of their divine Lord. This season is exactlv adapted to the place it fills in the Church Year. We now turn our eyes to Jerusalem; and seriously review those marvelous scenes of the world's greatest interest, and man's highest hopes. We need a lesson of this kind each Sermons preached 90.

The building is ehe of attraction, and does credit to Perth. The building committee deserve great credit for the self sacrificing work and attention they have bestow ed upon the new edifice; particularly "brother Erhard who at times worked others thought the weather too cold. The kind menas and memoers wno wonted ior the new. church, by hauling" and carpenter work, hav'eour hearty thanks and lasting gratitude. It certainly is to 'the honor of the good people of.

that community, to say that not one cent has been asked or paid out for work on tne new church. oio On the evening of the 9th inst. the ladies of Perth and vicinity, gave a basket social in the new Lutheran church. The sudden cold weather prevented from attend, ing; vet. quite a respectable number was present, and all we emerge from the bleak wintry months into the sunny days of Spring, i stirring ac tivities of Summer: so that our hearts do not become enshrined in sensual and temporal things; nor our hopes anchored to the earth.

We need such lessons that will revive our fidelity to zion, our zeal in the Master's cause, a concern in our soul's salvation, and a Christ like interest in the welfare of others. No othet city in the world has connected with it so many interesting associations, as this ancient and dilapidated city of Jerusalem. No other journey is so memorable asthe one the Saviour here proposed to his disciples. In this going up the greatest event of the history would transpire. Here was to be fought the battle between heaven and hell.

Around this marvelous journey cluster our fondest hopes to-day. At this particular season of the Church Year, this comes out with such prominence and elicits arousing, inter seemed to have a good social time. The REMINDER sug--gests that on about Wednesday after Easter, the good, ladies give another social, connected with a well prepared musical and literary program, in which the gentlemen will gladly then there will be something to feed (he mind as well as the body. About ten dollars were realized at the social, which is to be applied on the purchase of stove for the new church. 010 The first one of our members was called from the church Militant to the church Triumphant, on January 30 Mrs.

Fredericka Peters, wife of Charles Peters. She was afflicted with a mysterious disease', which caused a lingering near the grave for many weeks, when at last the patient spirit was set free. at the age of 40 years, 4 mo. and 4 da. A bereaved husband and six motherless children will sorely miss that faithful heart and ministering hand.

Bitter is the tear that falls on the ce4d clay of an affectionate wife and fond mother. An infant born the 27 of last Dec. was called to its sainted mother, just six days after her departure from earth. The funeral sermon was preached in the Charity Baptist church, Feb. 12, by the pastor, before a house full of people, who warmly sympatnize with the afflicted family.

est. We are approaching that particular time when we are specially to commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection ot Christ. Can we not better hold in honor those marked and eventful das, when we make some previous preparation ot heart? We observe birth-days and celebrate them note matriage anniversaries, with appropriate ceremonies, With national festivities we celebrate the birth of our national life. Will you tell what days in the whole calender of the year, are more worthy of observance than day! when Christ hung upon the cross, and paid the debt of human transgression, and the price for man's redemption? Let us tall prepare for'a proper celebration of theseim-portant festival days..
