Buffalo Park Pioneer. Published by A. W. Buknett. Every Thursday, It CuTLl 5 6aid: "Since the avowal of that unprincipled and barbarian motto that 'to the victors belong the office, which was intended for the use and benefit of the people, has become but the plunder of party.

In the language of an English historian in describing the reign of the eighth Henry, 'it has attained as near per growth and general condition for five years. Oats condition 80, an increase of 10 per cent over the reported condition of last month, the outlook is good for the largest yield ever produced in the state. Rye, condition, S5; barley, condition, 82; potatoes, report condition about the same as last month, 100 per cent. Other crops Broom corn, 93: flax, 88; sorghum, 75; castor bean, 94; millet and Hungarian, 90; tame grasses, 90; prairie grass, 91. Live stock The general condition is reported very good, with but little disease noted; the per cent of condition, as estimated from returns, is as follows: Horses, 100; cattle, 100; sheep, 95; swine, 95.

will do the correct thing. At Flatwoods camp meeting in Kentucky, on the 11th, Wm. Ilaze-lip' stabbed Miss Mary Lacefield because she refused his company. Fools not all dead yet. The crops are reported greatly damaged by drouth in Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, at least a tall off of one third.

Hot winds arc prevailing in Dakota. A few years since, money could not be had on real estate this far west; to-day, millions are seeking investment in real estate, the security of which is not doubted. Miss Rose Cleveland and Mr. Elder, the business manager of the "Literary Life," do not agree very well, and it is now quite likely the young lady wilt not assume editorial control of that; paper. Senator Vance, of North Carolina, is a little s6Ve over the veto of President Cleveland of a bill for the erection of a public building at Ashford, the home of the senator.

A small affair to be sore" overi for there is just much sense in erecting a government building at Gove City as at Ashford. We score one for Cleveland on this veto. All the towns had a great celebra tion this 4th, and it is predicted that Kansas will have the greatest boom this fall and next spring that she has ever witnessed. Capital is seeking investment here from every quarter. It is now a settled fact that no part of Kansas is barren, hut liat she is bound to take her stand as one of the foremost agricultural states of tie Union.

The present tide of emigration and the great influx of wealth to the state are elements which must place Kansas in the ca- of tlie great galaxy of states. Lane has a full-Hedged Republican ticket in the field. The Democrats as is their custom, are now electioneering in this way, "there should he no politics in this." This is the wav thev talk when in the minoritv, hut when in the ascendency, whether by force or legitimately, then they "no Republican need apply. Klei I the tidet from constable up." How many Republicans hold ojhec in the solid South? None, notwithstanding of the Southern stales, Mississippi has a Republican majority or! ft free, fair ballot of over fifty thousand. Capital is timid, and vl'Vh you see money lenders seeking li nns on real estate, it is pretty good evidence of future development Now, to the homesteader: stay with your claim; don't incumber it if you cat, possibly avoid it, sure these laiVls will one diy in i'e near future bring 10.00, or I ..00, or 20.00 acre.

Theiv no place where ycu can make so1 much ns by holding jour KiO Hen's of land. Estimated at a low figure, 1 acres is worth per acre, or 1880.00 per quarter. What can any homesteader go at hack East to make this amount? Nothing. 1 1 would pay rent during the five years whuh buy the hired land. Live a Ktffe hard a few years for the wake of becoming an independent farmer and lanit-owner, Never throw up, but ntay vitli your lavil," You are now passing through tlie dullot part of the with a fine prospect of a splendid crop.

F. ROBERTS CO. A GIFT niTmnmTTTi fect depravity as the infirmities of human nature Avould permit' Just before an election it will talk of reform and deprecate with holy horror the consequences of its own misdeeds; but no sooner in the object accomplished than it returns to its policy, plunder, like a dog to his vomit. Sir, the immense peculations of Swartwout, Price and others, have alarmed the administration. They propose to make up the losses by retrenchment.

And what is the first public service to be lop ped off? First of all the scarred veterans of the revolution are to be deprived of the scanty pittance doled out to them by the cold charity of the country." This latter part is so in keeping with the Democratic party of to-day we could not resist making a note of it. Their first strike at retrenchment has been at the soldier? of the Union. The President has not dared to bounce Garland for his peculation in office, or stick a pin in Bayard or Black, but has leveled his gatling gun at the scarred soldier, who is drawing, in a majority of cases, a small pittance of 8.00 to 12.00 per month. Swartwout, Price and numerous others robbed tfic government of mil lions witH the knowledge of the President, which Was made up in part by a reduction of pensions. The s.nne party is practicing the same demagoguery to-day.

The party as pictured by Prentiss in 1838 exists to-day, with the same blatant pretenses as then. The party "is now opposed to civil service because' in powrer. Speak the Truth. The editor of the Cop Sheaf showed himself very small in the ay he mentioned the celebration at Buffalo on the 3d. If the editor's little petty prejudice was so great that he could not write up the celebration oM it was, then he had better not said anything, lie says the crowd at Grainfield was double that of Buffalo.

Shame on the editor for such an unfounded and uncalled-for assertion; At the dance at Buffalo there we're sixty-eight numbers sold, at Grainfield there were forty odd. The music at Buffalo was grand, and it cost the nice little sum of 190.00. What did the music cost at Grain-field? We say the celebration at both places was grand, and the people of both towns deserve great credit, and no editor should siy to the contrary. Such insignificant and uncalled-for slurs does the editor no good. As to the crowd, we are frank to say we are incapable of approximating the number with any degree of accuracy, hut there were intro people hi both places than we have before seek 'congregat: ed, since in Western Kansas.

We could only judge the crowd by the races at both places. Judging' by this, the crowd was greater at Buffa lo. We wrote up the celebration at Grainfield as best we could, believing it a grand success, of which the citizens should be proud1. Equally should they fevl proud of the glorious at Buffa'o. No, Bro.
