The republican county convention met in Great Bend last Saturday. Cemmitties were appointed on order df business, resolutions, credentials; after which an adjournment Was taken until 1:30. Committee on permanent organizations reported Mr'. Balfour, of Lakin, as permanent ctiairinan with H. Clark, Ehube diarle'8 and H. R.

Lewis permanent secretaries. Committee on credentials reported; the same were adopted and Cotfiniitteo discharged, as also that on resolutions, The next in otdor was a song by the Great Bend Glee Club, after which was the nominaticjii of cdunty clerk. W. E. Carr, of Great tiend, being the only candidate, was unanamously declared the nominee amid great enthusiastic calls for titlrrl Carrl Mr.

Carr responded in a neat, little speech and to the poiut. Treasurer being next on the list, tha names of Frank Millard, of Wheatland township, and Mr. Butler of saine' place were presented. Ihe second ballot resulted in favor of Mr. Millard Whd responded to the call with a tew -tfrbrds of thanks.

Eppersdri were also presented for the office of register of deeds; An informal ballot was taken when Mr. Odell withdrew his name as a candidate, as also did Mr. which left the field clear for Mr.

Gailey, who was declared the choice for register of deeds. The next in order was sheriff. The candidates presented were A Montgomery, Howard and Dalzell; the second ballot resulted in favor of Mr. Montgomery. The glee clup rendered a eTioice selection which brought down the house.

Dr. Connett'n and Dr. Goii's names were presented to the convention and voted on for coroner. Dr. Goit withdrew his name after the first ballot, which placed Dr.

Connett in nomination. A Neweomb' was the choice for surveyor. This being the closing act the glee club gave us another song, and the contention adjourned. The delegates from the 3rd com. district met after the adjournment of convention and placed in nomination for commissioner, T.
