Town kirn vears of age. named Wood and John Hance respectively, both of whom were on a hunting and trapping expedition, having gone down there from Kinsley, their home for a little sport. The party remained together some days. Hance had a pony which he sold for forty dollars, prior to the meeting and which money he had with him. They pitched their tents one day on the Yerdigris river, distant about onehund? ed and fifty miles from Coff eyville, Kansas.

That evening vouug Hance and Miller went out to examine the traps. They were away until dusk yhen Miller returned alone and reported to Wood that Hance was lost to him and could not be found. Then he induced young Wood, Hance's companion to pull rip stakes and move on, saying that Hance would not likely find his way back and would in all probability start homeward. This occurred last October. Wood did not stay long with Miller but returned to his home at Kinsley where he told parerits of his disappearance.

Foul play was suspected, but not a circumstance which snr rounded the absence of the boy. Hance, which continued through the winter, pointed to the cause. An eye was kept on Miller, however, and so when Hance' body was found floating on the Yerdigris river a few davs ago, at a point eight miles from where the tent occupied, bp Hance, Wood and Miller had been located, the suspicion that Hance had been murdered took on the form of a fact, when the body was recovered a rope was round the neck and two bullets were imbedded in the head. The spot where the crime was committed was ascertained which indicates that Hance was dragged about i 250 yards after he was killed. when the facts reached Deputy Marshall Cronk, he at once went to Doniphan county and shadowed the house in which Miller and his gang resided.

Yesterday morning a wagon diTiAvn by two liorses was hiixriedly driven away. In an hour thereafter the man who haddriven it off appeared on horseback. The deputy "marshall and the sheriff of Doniphan county then road in direction that the wagon had been driven. They had not gone far before they sighted the same wagon and in it Bill Miller. The team was plodding up a steep 'hill, the wagon jostled, noisily and for 'this, reason the officers were enabled to steal up on Miller and cover him with their revolvers before he knew anyone near by.

when, he took in the situation and looked the bar els of two deadly guns he.did not become alarmed or nervous, but instead said. "Gentlemen, just wait Until I get to the top of the hill and then I'll get ut and you can take me." The officers, however, decided ti(at he had better not go any farther. lie then gave up there being nothing else; left to db.
