HATCH, Attorney At Law, Joe Camp was expiating on the beauties of Texas last Tuesday evening, and, we regret to say, will leave for that state. He says that if a man goes down there and marries a pretty half-breed squaw that he can get any amount of horses and cattle, also all the land that he can fence and not have to pay any taxes. In factJoe grew eloquent over the banner democratic state, and although his many friends here will be sorry to have him leave, they all wish him good luck, health and hapiness in his new sphere. Only two days more and marriageable ladies will be regretting lost oppor tunities. The average country paper is filled with the following locals alternately, and which are very edifying. "Mr.

It has been satisfactorily proven by prominent medical men that smoking tobacco kills the germ in many diseases, such as small-pox, yellow fever etc. No doubt this will be used by smokers as an indisputable argument why they should smoke. Kingman Courier: Judge Brown-lee, of Larned is attending court. The judge considers Larned the only truly great town in Kansas. He consumat-ed a trade yesterday with P.

J. Conklin by which he became owner of a two-story residence on Ave. D. east. Notice was given in all three of the papers that tickets would be sold at the postoffice for the band boys' dance Christmas eve, yet only two tickets were purchased at that place by those not wishing to attend, but bought for the purpose of assisting the band.

Their names are H. C. Johns and W. S. Webb.

Larned is the best market place in the state. Anything and everything almost is sold on its streets. A woman living south of town has discovered a new product, and is doing a thriving business. She brings in a load of "buffalo up to the present time has had very little difficulty in disposing of them. The democrats in Pawnee county may be in the minority but right at the present time they hold a receipt in full from the Larned comet band for services rendered this late campaign, something the republicans do not.

If the address of the Chronoscope is still Larned, it is about time it "spoke out in nieetin'." We have often read of the planta tion dances, but if they excelled the dance given by some darkies Thursday night, they were hummers. One thing that Ave saw looked bad, and that was white men participating and intermingling with the colored dames as freely as water. It looked bad, bad, bad. We regret to announce the fact that Geo. Hubbard, our old time gro-ceryman, closed his doors Thursday, caused by his being so large-hearted.

Between seven and eight thousand dollars are on his books and one-fourth of that amount would have carried him through swimmingly. It is thought that the suspension is but temporary. One person predicted that there would be one hundred tickets sold for the band boys' dance Christmas night. Instead of that number there were just thirty. Of course the weather being disagreable was some excuse for not turning out, but it did not excuse more of our business men from purchasing tickets and assisting the boys, even though they did not wish to dance.
