26, 1904. 0000000000000000000009 Local Incidents. 500 0000000000000 Christian Church of Arcadia. We are glad to note growth and good work in the singing class. Our appointments at Arcadia are every two weeks instead of second and fourth Sundays as formerly, Mr.

Crank filled his appointment at the Christian church, Sunday. There was the usual good audience. The services next Sunday are: Bible school at 10.00 a. 111. followed by social service at 11:00.

at 7:30 p. 111. Additions reported in papers last week, baptisms 2447, letters and statements 639, from other chuc'ks 89, total 3173. Additions are ea: marks of a live growing church. The next regular preaching service will be Sunday, March 6.

This will be our day for foriegn missions. We hope to make it the best in the history of the church. Last year our collection was $17,00 we hope to make it $20.00 this year. J. Farmer advanced his sudscription to the Record, Saturday. J. H. Zentmeyer of Fort Scott, visited his many friends in Arcadia, Saturday.

There will be something doing in the coal business near Arcadia next summer. Robert Morris of Coalvale, called Saturday, and advanced his subscription six months. A number of prospect holes were drilled, this week in the Jewell farm just south of town. Miss Daphne Capps of Liheral, Mo. spent Saturday and Sunday with friends and relatives in Arcadia.

Little Mabel Garrett, aged two years, died last Friday at the home of her parents, Mart Garrett and wife, of Coalvale. Hugh Gresham came up from Mulberry, Sunday to attend church. He called at the Record office last week and advanced his subscription. Miss Mabel Hesford, sister of Carl Hesford of the Liberal Inde pendent, died at her home in Liberal, last week. She was highly esteemed by everyone and her early death brings sorrow to a host of friends.

R. S. Russ, principal of the State Manual Trianing School, of Pittsburg was a pleasant caller at the Record office, Saturday. He is a pleasant gentleman and is doing efficient work in this branch of the State Normal. The Citizens' State Bank of Rush Center, Kansas, was opened for business, last week.

Cashier Chandler favored us with a copy of the Rush Centes Breeze giving an extensive write up of the event. These is one suspicious circumstance in connection with the opening of this bank, the editor of the Breeze is one of the directors. This is the first time we ever heard of a newspaper 1 man having money enough to be a bank director. Claude Garrett and Miss Ella Wyatt, both of Coalvale, were united in marriage by the probate Judge at Fort Scott, February 20. Claude is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Geo. Garrett, of Coalvale. The Record wishes them an abundance of happiness. State Manual Training School.

SUMMER SCHOOL. Begins June 8 and ends August 5. The following subjects wiil be taught: Manual Training, -Joinery, wood oarving, wood turning, light cabinet work, hand sewing, machine sewing, cookery, horsehold economy, Indian bead work, basketry, Venetian iron work, weaving in paper, raffia and reeds. paper modeling, paper folding, cardboard work, mechanical drawing. Grades made at the Summer School will be entered regularly on the books and count towards the completion of the course. However, you need not wait until opening of Summer term, as you can enter school at any time. April 4th, special classes will be organized to enable teachers to review or prepare for a higher grade of certificate.
