How meet that those who own the sway Which o'er the worlds in love extends Be wise in our auspicious day, To save to God, for glorious ends, This realm 'gainst which the foe contends! The Lord, who came from heaven down And makes His arm of power bare To strike from Sin the vaunted crown, Bids His with Him the conquest share, In tones that rings through all the air: Eise, chosen of the Lord our King, Enlightened with the gospel light, Plant ye the cross, His banner fling, In every vale, on every height, Till broken all the shades of night. The bloodless contest, be it known Far as the ground by men is trod, In spireless booth or fane of stone, Telling, through all the land abroad, The zeal of people serving God. Your Christian schools of higher grade To make the youth and maidens strong, In mind and heart, shall give their aid In trampling down for Christ the wrong And shouting forth the triumph song. Not least of these, the Church to-day In "Midland" hath a work begun: And may the Church's Head long say O'er towers lifted to the sun "Ye faithful of your Lord, well done Fort Washington, Jan. 16, 1888..
