Emcrick has sold his 160 farm two and one-half mile west of Garland for $5000 to a Mr. Majors, of Lafayette county, Missouri. Will Carr's Gem, published at Knob Xoster, is getting to the front elegant shape. The business men of Knob Noster begin to realize the Gem's worth, and well they ought to. William Wilson, living a mile and a half northeast of Garland, lost his barn, 1,500 bushels of oats, 100 bushels of wheat and a lot of corn and hay, and a Tood Bain wagon by fire Wednesday evening.

U. W. Pic Mc at Arcadia. Thursday morning about thirty-five of our citizens went to Arcadia on the local freight to attend the A. O.

U. W. anniversary celebration given by Arcadia Lodge number 159. At ten o'clock the members of the order met at Grant's hall and formed a procession headed by Girard band, First in the procession was Cato lodge number 133, then the Garland band and next Garland lodge number 143, and then Arcadia lodge number 159. Arriving at the grove the opening ode of the order was sung, then a prayer was made by Rev.

S. P. Culli-son, after which II. Clay Keedham delivered the address of welcome. Music by Girard baud; song by Mrs.

Gilbert, wife of Grand Master Gilbert; music by Garland band; adjourned two hours for dinner. At 2 o'clock the people were again cilled together by music from the Girard band. Mrs. Gilbert then sang a song, after which Grand Master Gilbert spoke for one hour, giving a miaute description of the order, its aims and objects; music by Garland band; address by Grand Foreman McFeley. There were about 500 people on the ground and all expressed themselves well pleased with the exercises.
