Haulcy Smith's lecture at Great Eend Monday night. They report a grand speech. Mr. Smith is a strong man and is becoming well known as a writer and lecturer, John and Daisy Piper, were among their old friends in this vicinity several days last week. The Baptists wil begiu a series of meetings next Monday evening' which will continue throughout the week.

A' special service will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening. Several ministers from abroad will be present. All cordially invited. The young man, John Crawford, who gof in trouble a week or two since for whipping a minor, is again in the same fix, and this time wo are informed on a more serious of making improper and unlawful proposals to a lady. If the matter is trqe as it was reported to us, instead of fining him a few dollars in some justice court, he should be given a good horse-whipping with orders to vacate the vicinity of Claflin.

Santa Claus' Letter. Dear The time is, drawing near for me to make my annual visit. Since ray last visit, I have been busy planning to make this the most joyous Christmas ever known.
