M. Norton celebrated her eighty-first birthday, April 12. Her daughter Mrs. Ross of Leroy and Mrs. Garner of New Orleans and Mrs.

Furd Norton spent the day with her. She received many beautiful presents. Mr. and Mrs. C.

F. Bonner and children have returned to their home in Kansas. They were called here by the death of his mother, Mrs. Frank Bonner. They took their father home for an extended visit with them.

A large crowd attended the Encampment work of the local camp Wednesday evening when they confered the Royal Purple degree on a large class. After the work a banquet was served. The Seniors have started practicing on their class play, 'The Dear Boy Graduate" and expect to give it about May 1st. Mrs. Albert Daniels and baby, and her father, Mr.

L. Hauser of Kansas City are here visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Root of Iola visited here a few days last week with her son, Frank Root and family. Mrs.

Theo Maxon spent the week end with her sister, Mrs. Eagle, south of town. Wm. Cain of Hutchinson, Kg. is here visiting Mr.

and Mrs. Jack Cusick. It isa custom with Rev. Kennaugh at the close of his Sunday morning service to go down to the door of the church and shake hands with the members of his congregation. He has a little son about five years old who frequently goes to the door with his father and shakes hands with the people as they go out.

Last Sunday Rev. Kennaugh was not well and did not go down to greet his congregation, as was his custom, but Bobbie, the little son was on hand and stood in line, taking his father's place. -Richmond Enterprise. Tuesday night of last week Le- land Murrow's car, garage and some tools were consumed by a fire of nnknown origion. Mr.

and Mrs. Murrow had attended the dance at the Opera House and drove to their residence about a mile east of town, put the car in the garage and went to bed. Later in the night they were a- wakened by the fire which was rapidly consuming the garage and contents. Mr. Murrow's loss is partly covered by insurance.

She was united in 'Marriage to Francis A. Bonner, Sept 23, 1869 in Grundy Co. Mo. by the Rev. J.

M. Farley. To this union was born three sons and two daughters, Two sons, J. V. Bonner of La Harpe, and Clinton F.

Bonner of Kansas City, Mo. and one daughter Clara E. Moss of Kansas City Mo. survive the mother one son and one daughter having died in infancy. Mr.

and Mrs. Bonner came to Hepler Crawford Co. Ks in 1886, also lived in Ft. Scott and Porterville moving to LaHarpe in 1904 where they made their home. Mrs.

Bonner passed to her reward April 11, 1921, at 3p. m. She accepted her personal savior in 1894 in the quiet hour of a home meditation. She united with the M. E.

church The deceased leaves to mourn a companion two gons, and one daughter, five grand children, two great grand children, three brothers, three sisters other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday p. m. at 2:30 at the M. E.

church, Rev. Skinner officiating. Interment in LaHarpe Cemetery. Class Party Sarah A. Bonner Jennie Van Dam and Mrs.

Clair Kerr enterlained their Sunday school class of the Presbyterian Sunday school Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Kerr. A peasant afternoon was enjoyed by all. At the State Musical Contest at Emporia last week, Miss Veryl Dougherty of La Harpe won second honor at the piano. Miss Daugherty is a musician of much talent and her many LaHarpe friends will be glad to hear of her success.

Henry Wilson, Clair Wilson a ad Will Stanford have gone to Cherryvale where they have secured work. Mrs. H. Reltz and children of Deering Kansas, are visiting. Misses.

'H. Marrs returned Thursday to her home in West- philia after attending the funeral of Mrs Sarah Bonner. Mrs. F. L.

Heathman and children have returned from a visit at Williomsburg, Kansas. Claude Clemans left Thursday for Stonington, Colorado for an extended visit with his brother. Rev. and Mrs. L.

Martin have gone to LeRoy for a visit with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. A. E.

Fowler and family of Lamar, Mo. have moved into the Egle property. Mrs. Gill Ruxton of Mildred was a LaHarpe visitor Tuesbay. Born to Mr.

and Mrs. Wm. Thomas, April 10th. a baby girl. Master Georg Danforth is visiting relatives in Ft Scott.

Mrs. H. R. Martin left Friday for a visit in Kansas City. Miss Mamie Ward was an Iola business visitor Tuesday.

Mr. John Gullett is very sick, Revival meetings commenced Tuesday evening at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. Harris of Iola. Everybody is cordially invited to attend these meetings. Rebekah Initiation The Rebekah's put through a class of eleven candidates, Friday eveing April 15 th.

Ed Cain of Lyons, Kansas is here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cusick. Mr. and Mrs.

John Hart and family spent Sunday in Humboldt. All kinds of base ball goods and fishing tackle at Kelly Hardware. Crossfield of Elk City, Kansas, is visiting his cousin, Harley Dean. Thank you, come again, our prices are right. Star Store.

School Entertainment Anentertainment given by a number of the high school and the Lincoln school students, was given in the H. S. Auditorium, Tuesday evening, April 12th was well attended and enjoyed by all. Mrs. Jack Cusick, who underwent an operation, Tuesday, April 12th at St Johns' hospital is getting along as well as can be expected.
