The Germans a.te considering the properity of building the proposed high school about 15 miles southwest of this place in Branch township. Mr. S. M. Smith and family started for Indiana on Wednesday.

They took with them the remains of their little- boy who died a short time ago. The returned to their old home with the intention of remaining permanently. Immigrants are beginning to be seen on our streets, real estate is changing hands, and Peabody is happy and hopeful. Miss Allie Welch started Monday 'to Mexico to visit her friend, Mrs. Store, She expects to remain the greater pari of the summer.

Miss Allie is one ol the favorites in Peabody society. We shall be glad when her visit has ended and we have her home again. The school -children observed arbor dav bv hanging pictures in tho Pro fessor's room and planting trees on the school ground. Each pupil is ex- pected to care for the tree of his or her own planting. The school board con templates fencing the school ground in the near future.

Arbor day was very well observed here. The merchants closed their stores from 10 o'clock a. until 4 p. m. A large procession lound its way to the cemetery, each carriage being freighted with trees or shrubs to be planted as tributes of affection in this ftilenUiome of the dead.

The beauty of the cemetery grounds as a whole is very much enhanced by the improve tnehts made upon it in the past. Clara.
