K. P. Peery and wife went to St. Joseph Tuesday where they bought a large stock of spring and summer goods that will be here in a few days. Small pox is in Effingham.

It is reported that Mrs. Neal took it there. At first it was thought to be chicken pox but now it is generally believed to be a mild form of small pox. The Horton boys that came over Sunday to play ball were a civil set of fellows and when they come back our boys will try to treat them right even if the whole town has to dig up. Mrs.

Frank Schletzbaum received a telegram Tuesday announcing the death of her uncle, Joseph Isle of Chicago, aged 69 years. His death was due to heart failure. Earl Logsdon wont into the country Monday to cut cornstalks but before night got sick and came home. Frank Schletzbaum Sr. replenished our exchequor Tuesday to the amount of a year's subscription. He was on his way to Atchison. We now have a new butcher.

D. Riehter stepped out and Horton and Son stepped in Sunday morning. Call on the new firm and they will treat you right. George Metz is an all-around handy Saturday he tended Robinson's elevator while Jas. was in Atchison and Monday he tended the hardware for Mr.
