The Orion Vuartette. A large and delighted audience greeted the Orion Quartette, of Ottawa, at the IS. church last Saturday evening ano er joyed one of the finest concerts ever given in our city. The quartette is composed of J. Wilcox and W.

J. Craven, tenors; G. N. Lavender, baritone and W. Detweiler, bass, and every one is an accomplished musician.

Their opening pieoe, "Annie was particularly fine and the entire program was rendered in a manner fully in keeping with it. The gentlemen are all gifted with fine voices and when singing together a harmonious effect is produced whioh would be hard to exoel. All who attended were highly pleased with the entertainment, as was evidenced by, the repeated encores, tbe singers being called back after every number, and should the quartette ever visit this city again, they are assured in advance a. hearty welcome and a crowded house. We are informed that beginning next Monday morning W.

trains will run direct to Kansas Oity, running over the Missouri Pacific tracks Leavenworth. For the present the time card will remain unchanged, although it is probable that as soon as the new steel is laid to Miltonvak a new schedule will go into effeot. Telegrams were received in the city iast Saturday announcing the death of Fred Fisher, whioh occurred in a hospital in New York city, at 11:30 a. m. of that day.

He was a member of the twentieth regiment of United States infantry, having enlisted at the at tbe breaking out of the war last spring. During the campaign in Cuba he was taken with chronic diarrhoea and typhoid fever, but was brought to New York with the regiment on Its return to tbe States and was placed in a hospital, here he grew worse and was unable to accompany his regiment, whioh returned to Ft. Leavenworth about a month ago. About two weeks before his death his sister, Miss Christina Fisher went to New York to visit him and it was thought after her arrival there that he would re-cover sufficiently to be brought home. But his improvement was only temporary, however, and on last Friday a telegram was received, stating that he was in a dying condition and this was followed by another on Saturday announcing his death.
