FRANZ Anna Eudora Brown was born in Wheatland township, Monroe county, New York, October 2nd 1858 and departed this life on the night of 2nd 1908 at the family home in Washington township, Jackson county, surrounded by the sorrowing husband and children after a life extending over a period of 49 years and six months. Her parents moved to- Illinois in 1865 settling on a farm on Bonn's Prairie, Boone county, where the subject of this sketch passed her young womanhood days. In 1875 she was united in marriage to J. C. Franz.

Twelve chileren were born to bless this union, all of whom besides the husband were gathered around the bed-side of the dying wife and mother. The young couple moved to Kansas in 1879 where they settled upon the farm that has ever since been the home of the family. Mrs. Franz leaves besides her husband and children, three brothers and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. From her early childhood, Mrs.

Franz manifested a deeply religons turn of mind and in later years, feeling the need of a church home she united with the Presbyterian church in 1887 and remained in this faith and connecion to the time of her entry into the life triumphant. S. L. Brown of Centerville S. D. arrived Friday in response to a telegram notifying him of the seious illness his sister, Mrs.

J' C. Franz. Bart McAnerney has been suffering with an attact of pneumonia the past week. Don't forget the Arbor day exercises at the sohool Friday. Will Glynn is having a well dug at his home this week.

Wanted; Fat veal calves. J. F. Winter. Mrs.

Wilson of Wheaton, mother of Mrs. Abel, is visiting in Emmett this week. Wm. Mondt returned from Excelsior Springs Sunday very much benifited in health. Mrs.

A. R. Walker went to Onaga Monday for a few days visit. House cleaning is all the fad with the ladies now-cold dinners for the men if they dare venture home during siege. We want your local news.

Phone it in. LOST, a photograph Sunday between Saxon's corner and Emmett. Reward for return to Citizen office. Joe Schneider is building a porch to the residence of Mrs. Ann Dowling this week.

There will be a supper given by the L. A. S. in the M. E.

church Wednesday evening, April 15, for the purpose of raising money to pay for the new bell of the church. The supper will commence at six o'clock and everybody is cordially invited to attend. FOR SALE. Good alfalfa hay and stove wood. J.

RT NOR A have leased the Jones Store Building in Emmett for the term of one year and will occupy same with a full line of Dry Goods, I Hats, Caps, Shoes, Children's Clothing, Ladies and Gents Furnishing Goods, Notions, etc. In addition the Misses Smith and Walker of Sabetha Kansas will open up a line of Millinery goods in a section of the building reserved for that purpose and I trust that the people of Emmett and the surrounding country will give them a liberat portion of their trade. Emmett looking good to me, I advised them to come here. If the trade will justify it they will move their Notion stock here in time for the Fall trade. I will continue the Grocery business at the old stand, where produce will be taken at the highest market price in exchange for all lines of merchandise.
