II. Luse, president of the Kansas Conference of the M. P. church paying Lis presidential visit here preached Sunday and Monday evenings. A train of palace stock cars went through here Saturday en route to Chicago laden with cattle from the ranch of Long, Shortt Giltner near Wamego.

GYPSIES. A band of theso nomads came into our town Tuesday afternoon, selected camping ground just outside of town and fixed themselves for the night. After making some attempts to get our citizens to have their, fortunes told, they left on Wednesday morning for Denycr. BELVUE SCHOOL EXHIBITION. The teacher and pupils of the Belvue school, assisted by some outside talent, gave an exhibition as the closing exercises of the school Saturday night.

The song by Prof. Berner and wife elcited hearty applause. The recitations 'by Wilson Heminger and. Albert Beeler were well rendered. In dialogue work Miss Ollie Aliord did exceedingly well.

Lunch goods, fresh rhubarb at Watt Subscribers are wanted to read the Dodger advertisement. The dime social given by the ladies of the M. E. church last Tuesday evening was a very enjoyable affair. Oyer thirty were in attendance.

E. -W. Henry returned Wednesday evening from a Hying trip to Kansas City. Elmer is thinking of embarking in the dry goods business if appearance are not deceptive. The Ladies Aid society of the M.

P. church was held at Mrs. Smith's last Thursday. About twenty were in attendance. The next meeting will held at Mrs.

H. Shortt's. During the month of April there were shipped from this station 619,315 pounds of corn, 86,770 pounds of oats, 25,000 pounds of wheat, 296,000 pounds of cat tie and 129,000 pounds of hogs. The next dime social will meet at the Case residence, Saturday night the 11th inst. Everybody A good time is expected.

Mr. Risinger has been informed through his son residing in the Hoosier state that he can get steady employment at his trade. We wish him the success which his "commendable industry deserves. Two young men from St. Marys met with an accident at Mr, Huston's, a half mile north of town.

One of the bolts holding the tongue of the wagon to the front axle came out and letting one side of the tongue down which frightened the horses and causing them to become for a time unmanageable. One of the young men was thrown out in front of the fore wheel, but fortunately the wheel rose for some cause as the wagon was tilted nearly over and he escaped uninjured. FROM SOUTH HAVEN. Mrs. Worthing spent Saturday in Belvue visiting her daughter. Mr. LaRocque's daughters, of St. Marys, are visiting at Mr.

Martell's. The Belvue Dancing club revived and gave one of its parties last Wednesday night. The slaughter in furnishing goods at Watt's continues. Call early for bargains, The Western Union Telegraph com pany has reduced rates affecting 1,000 offices. For rent A dwelling house.
