And thus it is, another good man has passed away. The 17-year-old son of Editor Smick, of the Wamego Agriculturist, was killed by the train at that place last Friday night. J. Ali.kn, Trustee, You can buy Hick's almanac at the postollice. A county commissioner who will quibble over a printer receiving what the law allows hiir, should have his own salary of a day cut down to 50 cents a day. This has reference to Commissioner Wilson, who is too narrow between the eyes to be fair, libeial and broad -minded, as an official should be. Westmoreland Signal, Say, Bill, ain't you little too severe on Mr.

Wilson; you must remember that he knows nothing about what printing is worth, and no doubt he is under the impression that the newspaper men are trying to roll the county. But on matters pertaining to roads he has few superiors and no equals. It is true the county sometimes loses in the deal, but this loss is partly made good from what he takes from the printer. If all people were built like him in this world there would be but little ucouragement for the printer, so far as udveitising is concerned, and all the material needed in the office would be two or three cases of small pica and a little blank ojk just large enouuh to bold the names' of your exchanges. JOHN TEEIIAiV, Blaine, Kansas, Blaine FRED JONES, can be done to prevent the spread of the disease. If the quarantine against the family is made effective until two or four weeks after the hist one may take it fully recovers, and the house, bedding and clothing thoroughly fumigated or disinfected, there is no fear of its spreading. Hut the family must be kept thor oughly isolated and no one permitted to go in or out. He also states there is no necessity clos ng the schools or discontinuing public assemblies as long as this quarantine is strictly maintained. There a two families in the country who have had chickenpox or some sti'l milder form of the smallpox who arc to be closely watched and kept out of town until all danger of the di sease spreading srom them is past.

He says the Bame disease is all over the county, but in a more malignant form in some places than others. At Wainego they have had many cases, but no deaths, while'at St. Marys it took on a more serious tpye and three deaths have occurred there. This disease is not confined to this county, but is everywhere and there is no occasion for any alarm. In Topeka there have been over tv, thousand cases.

He advises that physicians exercise great care, and when a case is the least suspicious to have the family isolated from the start until the disease is sufficiently developed to determine its exact nature.
