Looney's Friday night. Mrs. Hill is expecting her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Danley, home from Arizona. The spelling contest will be held at Jeddo Friday afternoon.

R. Harris, Supt Last week the Friends of La Harpe.enjoyed a ministerial visit from one of their evangelists, Rev. Adelbert Wood. One of their traveling evangelists held five sessions with us to the strengthning and of the cause among us. Also one of our Quarterly meeting ministers, Rev.

Wm. T. Huff of Buffalo, Kansas was with us at our business meeting last Saturday evening, Sunday morning at 11 and in the evening at 7:30. All of the above services were strengthening to us. Card of Thanks.

The Ladies Missionary Society of the Presbyterian church meets with Mrs. Felger next Tuesday, March 11th. A bunch of keys picked up near the stockyards has been left at this office. Owner- is invited to call and get them. 0.

W'. Clark of Center, has been visiting relatives here during the past week. He is lo cated in the San Louis valley, which has an elevation of 7,500 feet. In that altitude only two or three months of the year are free from frosts, yet crops are raised successfully. While the thermometer gets pretty low there in the winter, he says one does not feel the cold as much as in this country.

The Manual Training exhibit at the Friedley store and' the Domestic Art exhibit at the Meyers store have attracted considerable attentifn and have been the subject of not a little comment and some just pride on the part of our people. A little inquiry develops the- fact that our schools are doing excellent work and no city in the land can show better educational advantages than ours. The board of education evidently used good judgment in the selection of our teachers and the work they are doing should and does command general Don't Be a Knocker. Hide your little hammer and try to speak well of others, no matter how small you really know yourself to be. When stranger drops in jolly him.

Tell him this is the greatest community on earth which it is. Don't discourage him by speaking ill of your neighbors. There's no end of fun minding your own business. It makes other people like you. Nobody gets stuck on a knocker so let us all boost.

The mayor appointed Councilmen Spang-ler, Friedley and Padgett as such committee. Simon Peter suffered a stroke of paralysis last Saturday morning, while standing in the yard at his home. At first it was feared that the stroke might prove fatal, but later developments indicate that the affliction was less serious than was at first supposed.
