George McLaughlin is no better at this writingJames Mattocks is improving slowly. Mary Broughton spent Satururday night and Sunday at Jess Hamilton's. Miss Lela McFarland has been in Fort Scot, consulting Dr. Jarret with reference to her eyes. They are some better but the physician would not permit her to begin school.

Report of the (Stony Point School for the month ending 10; Number pupils enrolled 21, number of pupils neither absent nor tardy 8, The names are as follows: Edith and Ross Johnson, Andrew Hall, Blanch Fuhrman, Austin McFarland, Johny Laury, Evade and Myler Harclerode. Mr. Arther Humbard took dinner at Wm McFarland's, Sunday. Mr. Sanborn came up from Oklahoma, Sunday, called here by the serious illness of his fatherin-law George McLaughlin. Mrs.

Sanborn came several days ago. The Harclerode and Heckenlaible sale was well attended and everything sold well. Arthur Humbard killed an eagle which he found in the hay meadow on the Harclerode farm. It measured six feet from tip to tip. Mrs.

Theodore Hamilton spent Wednesday with her son Jesse Hamilton and family. Arthur Humbard bought a horse of Cady of Bronson. Mrs. Nellie Heckenliable is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Will Broughton. Mr. Heckenliable is in western Kansas Looking for a location. Mrs. Viola Broughton spent Wednesday at Will Broughtons.

Florence Round, teacher. OLD ELSMORE Weare ready to beleive that Mr. ground hog knew what he was doing when he crawled back into his hole, second. Chas. Booher sold a fine span of geldings to Jess Stowell last week.

A. J. McCarley, Mrs. Gus Englehardt and James Teel were called to the bedsides of their father John Teel of Moran, Friday. Mr.

Teel is suffering a complication of diseases and is in serious condition. Pete Olson hauled a load of coal for Theron Cox, Tuesday. Col. D. Booher is suffering from an attack of rheumatism at the present writing.

Pete Olson bought a span of work mules at the Heckenlaible sale last Wednesday. Walter Ard joined the Woodman, and incidentily rode the goat. Miss Norma Gardner gave a valentine party Tuesday to a number of her friends, It needles to say that a very pleasant evening was spent. Those present were Eugene and Leslie Ford, Frank Low and family, James Colwell and son Hoyt, and Thomson brothers. SMOKY ROW Zach Price moved to his farm known as the Palmer place, Thursday.

G. W. Harris sawed stove wood for Will Bennett, Thursday. Mrs. Hannah Larson was calling on Mary Roedel last Wednesday.

Mr. Martin Munson moved to the Robert's farm north east of town, the latter part of last week, Wm. Bennett and daughter Dora were in Savonburg on Monday having some dental work done. Andy Ludlum and wife were helping Bert Bennett butcher, Monday. The ground hog has been in evidence first part of this week with winter weather.

Hattie Johnson spent first part of this week with Wilbur Johnson and wife. Messrs Welsh, Allen and Price were in the Row on Tuesday in the interest of the telephone business. Dr. Longnecker was called to see Mrs. McClung, Tuesday.

Tuesday and Wednesday mercury was 12 above. SCHOOL NOTES. We are sorry to report that Nellie French is still unable to attend schcol. Hazel Ellis has a new way of ascendihg the stairs, thereby amusing the little ones. The freshman class was absent Monday, for reasons unknown.

The spelling contest of Elsmore township will be held at the Elsmore school building. p. m. Is the time. Truly has it been said that history repeats itself.

Somebody in High School got their hair cut last week. Aestuariam. statuary. See special vocabulary of Elmer Stowell. The physics class finished "Magnetism and Electricity" this week.

It proved to be very shocking. Help! The class in Physical geography has been making paper nache maps this week. This week is examination week. Please start the doxology. Obituary.

Mrs. C. A. Johnson died at her home one mile south of Elsmore, Thursday morning 16. Aged 67 yrs.

nine months and sixteen days. Mrs. Eva Catherina Johnson, was born in Ahlsheda, Sweden, 1843. She was married 31, 1865, to Carl J. Staff.

To this union five children were born who have preceded her to the Beyond. She with her husband to America in 1871, locating at Moline, where she lived untill 1879, when they moved to Kansas locatting one mile south of Elsmore, where Mr. Staff died in 1881. On May 3, 1883, she was married to C. A.

Johnson, and to this union were born three children of which two survives. She leaves to mourn her loss a kind and loving husband, one son, one daughter, a brother who lives in Moline, and a sister in Sweden. The funeral was held at the Swedish Lutheran church Friday afternoon conducted D. Nordling and the remains were laid to rest in the Swedish cemetary. Special Meeting.

An extra meeting has been called by the Woodman lodge of this place, to be held in Braden's hall Friday night 24, for the purpose of discusing the plans of building a new hall. This is to be an open meeting and all business men and citizens of Elsmore and vicinty are requested to attend and express their opinion wheter Elmore shall have a new hall or not. This is a very important question and everybody that is interested should attend this meeting.
