E. CULBERTSON. R. E. Culbertson for County Clerk The Record this week publishes the announcement of R.

E. Culbertson for the office of County Clerk. There has never been a more accurate, accommodating and painstaking official in the Allen county court house, and it is quite generally believed that Mr. Culbertson will have no opposition in asking reuoinination. The Iola Register recently said of hi 111: The fact-that thus far there has been 110 announcement of any candidate of any party against him, is somewhat indicative of a more or less general sentiment that Bob" Culbertson is a good man for the place and may remain there, Nearly everybody in the county knows Culbertson.

He was elected to the office four years ago and two years ao by smashing majori ties, and the fact that he physically weighs about 80 pounds has not detracted from his efficiency. He has been found courteous, steadily on the job, his work has been highly satisfactory, and voters of all parties have expressed a volunteer nonpartisan endorsement of him and his work. It is an admirable endorsement of brains and skill. In this connection the following extract is take 1 from the report of the expert Accountant, J. E.

Cation, which he made for the county commissioners in connection with his audit of the county's accounts: "The accounts of your County Clerk, so far as I have examined them in connection with this office, (County Treasurer) are also neat and and well kept, I made a thorough test of Mr Culbertson's computations of taxes for state, county and for each city, township and school district in your county and found them, with one minor omission to be absolutely accurate. I also found that his charge to the Treasurer of $382,656.11 was absolutely correct to the penny. "Few persons except County Treasurers can appreciate the value of an accurate tax roll, and I have never before found a tax roll to be absolutely accurately computed." Olson-Sons Merc. Co. have on exhibit a pair of Endicott-Johnson Kromelk work Shoes that was sold to M.
