One (1) of sewer district No. Three (3) and it is hereby declared necessary to construct in said sub-district No. One (1) a ten (10) inch pipe sewer under and along the alley north of Minnesota avenue from Sixth (6th) street to Fifth (5th) street so as to make connection with the Fifth (5th) street sewer, and said sewer is hereby ordered to be constructed and to be completed in twenty days from the execution of the contract for the construction of the same. Sec. 2.

Said bids shall be acted upon and the contract let by the mayor and council at the next meeting of the council after time for receiving bids expires, unless it shall be necessary to re-advertise for bids in which case the same steps shall be taken until the contract shall be awarded, and when the work shall have been completed and accepted it shall be paid for from proceeds of improvement bonds. Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Kansas Pionier. Passed in council November 16, 1888.

HANNAN, Mayor. ORDINANCE NO. 718. An ordinance declaring it necessary to riprap the embankments at the points where Seventh (7th) street and Tenth (10th) street crosses Splitlog creek, North side. Be it ovdained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Kansas City Section i.

That it is necessary to riprap the embankments at Seventh (7th) street where said street crosses Splitlog creek and also the embankment at Tenth (10th) street, where said street crosses Splitlog creek and the same are hereby ordered to be done. Sec. 2. Said riprapping shall be done in the manner to the extent and of the dimensions as prescribed in the plans and specifications therefor made by the city engineer, which plans and specifications are approved, the same being now on file at the office of the city engineer. Sec.

3. The city clerk shall cause an advertisement for bids for doing each of the aforesaid works in the same manner and for the same time in the official paper of the city as in case of the letting of other public improvements, and the contract shall be awarded in the same manner. First published November 24, 1888. ORDINANCE NO. 722. An ordinance vacating certain streets and alleys in Kansas Place therein mentioned. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Kansas City Section 1.

That it is necessary that the streets and alleys in the addition to the former city of Wyandotte known as "Kansas Place" hereafter named be acated, to-wit: New York street. Indiana street, Wisconsin street, Bryant street, Illinois street and Chestnut street; also the alleys in blocks One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and Seven as the same were laid out and dedicated on the plat of the said Kansas Place addition to the city of Wyandotte, and the said streets and alleys are hereby vacated. Sec. 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Kansas Pionier.

An ordinance to amend section 13 of ordinance No. 53, entitled "An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Street Railway company to construct and operate a cable or electric street railway in and upon certain streets," approved October 18, 1886. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Kansas City, Kansas: Section 1. That section 13 of an ordinance entitled "An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Street Railway company to construct and operate a cable or electric street railway in and upon certain streets," approved October 18, 1886, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: Section 13.

Said company shall at all times run and operate on its road good and sufficient cars to accommodate the public travel, and shall keep the same clean and road-worthy and in good and safe order and condition, and shall at all time keep its roadbed and tracks in good order and safe condition so as to afford safe and convenient travel thereon and said cars shall at all times equal in pattern, style, finish and condition the cars in ordinary use on the best managed and equipped lines of street railways in the United States; and said cars and machinery for operating the same shall at all times be provided with the best approved appliances for protecting the lives and persons of passengers on said load, and of the public traveling on or across the streets oyer which the said road may be operated, and no street cars shall in any case be run or operated on or across any street at a greater rate of speed than ten (10) miles an hour; and it shall be Block 13t- Paid up Capital and between Chicago and Kansas City and St. Joseph. These trains are equipped with new and elegant Day Coaches, Reclining Chair Cars, Dining Cars (east of the Missouri river) and Pullman Palace Sleeping Cars, heated throughout by steam and having all the modern improvements. West of Kansas City and St. Joseph, splendid dining hotels are located at convenient stations.
