City of Kansas Citv, Kansas There will be a special meeting of the City Council on Mon. evening August 20th, 1888, at half past 7 M. for the purpose of hearing any and all complaints that may be made as to the valuation assessed by the appraisers of real estate abutting on Tauromee street between Seventh and Eighth Street (north side) and also to hear any and all complaints as to validity and fairness of the assessments or special taxes to be as sessed and levied on all lots, pieces and parcels of ground liable for the grading said street between said points. The following named lots, pieces and parcels of ground are liable for the assessment of grading said Tauromee Street in the city of Kansas City, Kansas: BLOCK 159. piang or pave ua iracs at me street crossings or other points thereof as provided in the previons sections, and which has for the space of thirty days after the service of said notice upon it failed, neglected or refused to do the same shall be guilty of a mii demeanor, and on conviction in the police court be fined in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars; provided, service of said notice shall be made upon any such street railway or other company by the city marshal in the same manner as is by law provided for the service of a summons upon a railway corporation.

Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any street or other railway company or any employee thereof operating or assisting in the operation of any train of cars, any car, engine, locomotive or other appliance upon its track to permit or allow the same to remain standing on or to obstruct the passage at any public crossing in this city for a period longer than ten minutes at any one time, and any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction shall be punished in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars. Section 6. The main tracks, side spurs and switches of all street and other railway companies in this city shall be used for running cars upon only and shall not be used for storing cars or locomotives, and in no case shall cars or locomotives be permitted to remain on said main track, side track, spurs or switches longer than a reasonable time to load or unload the same, and it shall be unlawful for any street or other railway company.or any servant or employee thereof, operating or assisting in the operation of any car, train of cars, engine, locomotive or other appliance on its track to violate any provision of this section and any such person so doing shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and om conviction shall be fined in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars and the street or other railway company in whose service such offender shall be engaged shall forfeit and pay for every such violation the sum'of one hundred dollars, to be recovered in any court of competent jurisdiction in the name of the city of Kansas City. Section 7.

An ordinance levying a tax and providing a revenue from all the properey in the territory of the former City of Kansas for the purposes therein contained Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council-men of the city of Kansas City.

Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby levied upon all the real, mixed and personal property within the territory of the former City of Kansas, as the same appears and is returned on the assessment roll of the city of Kansas City for the year of 1888 on file in the office of the county clerk of Wyandotte county, state of Kansas, not exempt from taxation, for the following taxes and percentage, to-wit: First. A tax and percentage of two mills on the dollar for the purpose of paying the floating indebtedness and redeeming the special improvement bonds not covered by special assessments and to redeem at maturity the bonded indebtedness of said city of Kansas City. Second, A tax and percentage of one mill on the dollar for the purpose of paying the accruing interest on the bonded indebtedness of the said City of Kansas. Section 2.

(north side) and also to hear any and all complaints as to the validity and fairness of the assesments or special taxes to be assessed and levied on all lots, pieces and parcels of ground liable for the payment of the said grading of Garrett street between saidpoints. The mayor shall execute improvement bonds for the sum of $6,500.00 in the sum of five hundred ($500.00) dollars each, payable to bearer, bearing interest at seven (7) per cent per annum from August 1st, 1888, payable semi-annually on the first day of February and the first day of August of each year, and running from one to ten years, so that one-tenth (1-10) of said amount shall become due and payable in each of the ten years with coupons for interest as the same becomes due attached thereto, and shall cause the same to be attested by the city clerk with the seal of the city attached, and shall negotiate the same at not less than par value, and place the proceeds thereof in the city treasury, forthwith to be applied to the purpose aforesaid. Section 3.

Said bonds shall be numbered from 663 to 675 inclusive, and shall constitute series and shall be registered by the city clerk in the bond book of the city as other bonds are registered, and the mayor and council shall annually make provision for the payment of the principal and interest thereon as the same becomes due by levying a tax upon the property liable in payment thereof, as provided by law. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Kansas Pionieb. Passed in council August 8th, 1888. J.

452. An ordinance establishing the grade on Sixteenth street, south side, from the Kansas City Belt Railway track to Kansas avenue. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council-men of the city of Kansas City, Kansas. Section 1. That the grade of Sixteenth street, south side, from the Kansas City Belt railway track, to Kansas avonue, is hereby established, as follows, to-wit: Commencing at the north rail of the Kansas City Belt track, grade elevation 30 7-10 feet, thence on a plane to the south line of Cheyenne avenue, grade elevation 23 feet, thence level across, thence on a plane to the south line of Miami avenue, grade elevation 24 feet, thence level on a plane to the south line of Osage avenue, grade elevation 281 feet, thence level BLOCK 110.

$1 500 Lot il 900 First published August 11th, 1888. Ordinance No. 477. An ordinance relating to railway tracks and railway crossings and providing penalties for violation of its provisions. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council-men of the city of Kansas City.

Section 1. It shall be and is hereby made the duty of all street and other railway companies having a track or tracks upon any street, alley or avenue in this city where the track of such railway company intersects or crosses any street, sidewalk or alley to grade and pave or plank such crossing or intersection in the manner hereinafter designated. Section 2. Every such railway company owning, operating or maintaining any such railway track shall make the grade thereof to conform to the established grade of the street upon which it is located, when such street, avenue or alley is improved to grade, and pave the same with the best grade of sandstone or lay down oak planks three inches thick between the rails of the track and for the entire width of the street outside the track at the point where such track intersects or crosses any venue, or alley to the satisfaction of the city engineer and the mayor and council and shall maintain the samein good repair as long as such track is used by any such company. Section 3.
