It Is the intentlo" print a large number of Uttle booklets or folders containing thjs explanation, for general distribution among the auxilllary officers and members of the council over the county. United effort along the lines outlined will undoubtedly 'bear good results for the people of the county.

Tho'statement follows: Purposes of the Council. To assist the nation, state and county in doing all things necessary to bring about the highest efficiency In the war. To co-ordinate all activities arising within the county with those of the federal and state govern-, ment and to become a clearing house for all work to be required of the citizens of Harvey county. To stimulate food production and' conserve our present supply. To meet the emergencies of war and save our mercantile, farming, laboring ahd industrial interests from demoralization.

Also to extend relief to those who. have been rendered helpless by the unfortunate Wars are won largely by three essentials, that Is men, food and munitions. Money Is necessary only as it will buy the two latter, and these cannot be bought unless there Is a supply available. The food question Is then one of the most Important In any great conflict. The above representative men will plan to assist the people of Harvey county do their utmost iu food production and to conserve what is raised that no one need go hungry because of our wasteful MECHANO-THERAPY be ntio trnac IMS fjiitcin in jenc cmiflc eimnt.

Mechano-Therapists Moundridge, Kansas instructor and a demonstration plant to teach tho housewives of the county how to can vegetables. It Is deemed necessary that each family can all their surplus vegetables, not only to conserve the food supply and preserve what would otherwise be wasted, but owing to the "food experts there will bo a great shortage of canned goods. A shortage of tin fro'l which to make cans, may causes the closing down of a great many commercial canning plants and there will also be a greatly Increased demand for canned good3 owin to armies needing food packed in that manner. Experts also claim, that vegetables' for home consumption can be packed in glass as well as tin. Next fall this committee will endeavor to encourage the seeding of a maximum crop of wheat and will render what assistance Is necessary in securing an ample supply of the highest grade seed.

A study will be maxle also of the supply and. quality of seeds needed for gardens at once and for all other crops for the future. Provision will hade to advance seed to those able to purchase and the seed returned to the committee from the crop or a note taken payable from tho proceeds of the crop Conservation of. food is not advocated with the Idea that the price Is to be lowered and the -farmer's profit curtailed. The experts know "that with America raising maximum crops there Is still every reason to believe that there will be strong prices for some time to come and they fear If America does-not raise a maximum crop during the continuance of the war, millions of people will go hungry and many actually starve.

It will also mean much and may be a deciding factor in the success of the allle (Dcunhtfcljt (Sier, eflfifjei, $aitfce nub flefdjtadjtete Sdjmeiiie. SSir tierfaufett caftng" gereinifjte ebarme. (tf) CRAS. J. BRUNNER 118 SBcft SHchJtoti 110 obcr 1110 DR.
