Congressman Broderick Introduces Resolutions to Settle Railroad Claims. Washington, Jan 5. When the house re-assembled today after the holiday recess, the following resolution was adopted on niotion of Mr.

Broderick of Kansas. "Whereas, there ore large and valuable tracts of lands in Kansas embraced in the grant to the Union Pacific railway company to which patents have not yet been issued. "Whereas, most of these lands have been sold by said company to the said purchasers, who are in possession, and who have made lasting and valuable improvements thoreon. A Serious Accident. Fred Tunnison met with a very serious, almost fatal accident, Monday afternoon at about 2 p.

While attending to some horses, ho was bit on the back of the head and neck by a colt, inflicting a dangerous wound. The blood spurted forth at a rate which threatened speedy death, and after, a vain attempt to stop the flow of blood he was quickly brought to Onaga for surgical assistance. A. G. Myers last Tuesday evening was the scene of one of the most brilliant social events of the year. The occasion being a reception given in honor of their son, Mr. W.

E. Myers, and his friend, Mr. H. G. Robinson, of Leavenworth.

At an early hour the guests began to arrive and were taken in chargo by the genial hostess, who had made early preparation for the careful entertainment of her guests. The evening hours quickly passed In social converse, parlor games, until 10 o'clock when the company was invited to the dining room where a sumptious repast was in waiting, After supper the guests again repaired to the parlors where after another hour spent In social companionship, they dispersed to their homes one of the jolliest and best spirited assemblage of people who had ever experienced the delight ful pleasures of a reception In one of Onaga's hospitable homes. Pleasant Party. A most enjoyable evening party was given at tho home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W.

Thompson In this city lust Saturday night in honor of Miss Cecil Buntz, of Havensville, and Mr. W. E. Myers, of Leavenworth. The host and hostess had spared no pains to make the occasion an enjoyable one, and those presont joined in do ing honor to those popular young people.

After a few hours spent in pleasant and delightful conversation, music, games, and the guests were seated to a bountiful repast, which was in itself a tribute to the ability of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson as ruyul entertainers. In tho "wee sma' hours the guests repaired to their homes, feeling that this had been one of the most thoroughly en joyable evenings of their lives.
