M. Linquist's Sunday and practiced for the Ard Grove picnic. The young folks of town enjoyed themselves at a party at A. S. Roger's Wednesday night.

Lardner was up from Stark Sunday, telling about Stark's natural gas and other things that were calculated to excite envy. School opened Monday with a fair attendance in all the rooms, and that the weather was cool and pleasant, things moved off in good shape. A Mr. Whitehill was delivering copies of the history of Allen: and Woodson counties, published by Duncan and Scott, to subscribers in this community this week. Mrs.

J. W. Sparks has been suffering for some time past with throat trouble and Doctors O' Flyng and Braden decided it best to remove the lower part of the tonsils and performed the operation, doing SO Wednesday. L. W.

Duncan was in town this morning. Mr. Duncan was deliv-1 ering copies of the history Allen and Woodson counties, to subscribers, of which he and Chas. F. Scott are the publishers.

He tells us he has verv little trouble in making settlement with the subscribers. Don't forget the Farmer's Institute to be held at Ard's Grove, September 27. Bring your basket full of good edibles and help to make the day a pleasant as well as a profitable one. The Elsmore band will be in attendance, and good music will be furnished all day. Hill, of Fort Morgan, Colorado, father of A. F. Hill, came in from there Thursday morning. Mr. Hill is a pleasant gentleman, full of vigor and life, notwithstanding he is quite gray with age.

He tells that farmers about Fort Morgan do not depend on rain for their crops, but upon irregation and owing to the light snows in the mountains last winter their water supply was limited and crops ouly fair. Milner left Thursday to join her husband at DeSota, Kansas, where he writes he has plenty of work in his line. Miss Smart, of Stark, came up yesterday and went out in the country for a visit with her brother, W. W. Smart, and family. J.

R. Taylor, of Xenia, an old friend of ours made us a pleasant call Thursday morning. Mr. Taylor has relatives at Savonburg whom he was visiting this week. Marion Anderson came home last week after an absence of two years and we understand has again left, this time for the south where he will work for the Home Comfort Range Company.

Swan Nelson, one of our prosperous farmers in the southwest part of the township, bought lumber of Redfield Tuesday, with which to build a large barn. You can't keep Elmore township farmers down with one drouth. Governor Stanley has refused a pardon to Jap Apple, sent up from this county for forgery, etc. And that is right. There is 110 more reason why Jap Apple should be pardoned than could be found in pardoning nine tenths of the conviets in the penitentiary.
