The sixty dollars was reinvested and a few days ago the company, which is composed entirely of Santa Fe officials ami employes, received fifteen dollars returned for this same investment. This amount was also invested, and now awaits results. Next time they will probably get nothing. This is the result of this foolf ottery business.

The causa of the lire is either not known or not reported. Mr. Chas. Brayman, who has been living for the last six years about six miles north of this city, made us a hasty call this week and requested the C'AiutiicR sent to Delphos, Ringgold county, Iowa, where he and his parents will hereafter take up their abode. Parry joined the Workmen Lodge of this city Saturday night, and yet there are more to follow. Brera Bagnall writes from Los Angeles, that Leu White was his guest for a few days, and was greatly enjoying the sunshine of that beautiful country. The strike was raised on all roads going out of Kansas City last Wednesday at 5 o'clock, with ths exception of the Mo. Pacific. The corporations acceded to the terms of the strikers.

The Delphos Society of Spiritualists will hold anniversity services Sunday, Mch. 28, at 2 P. in the Universalist church. A cordial invitation is exten ded to all. C.

II. Sheffield has some beautiful, hardy roses and immortelles, suitable for cemetery decoration. He will plant for persons desiring it, anything in the lino of decorative shrubbery. Phil Chamberlin. agent of the Topeka Capital, was in the city this week.

Phil has been on the Capital staff for years and is one of the best posted newspaper men in Kansas. He is also a remarkably good wing shot, and don't allow any monkeying with the buzz-saw. In justice to himself, every farmer should carry Insurance ou his dwelling, barns, granaries, grain aud stock. The Bank of Delphos represent only Old and reliable companies. Their rates are uniform and the lowest offered by any legitimate company.

A. C. Farrow announces to tlie public that he is now prepared to furnish warm coffee, beefsteak, ham, eggs and fried potatoes at all hours of the day or night. All kinds of did lunch, such as dried beef, cooked beef, oysters, sardines aud salmon; bread, butter; pies, cakes, pickles, and sour kroiit. A full lino of fine cigars, nuts, oranges and randies kept constantly oa hand.

The rapid growth of Delphos and Its business demands compel us to occupy a larger office and increase our stock. We hav accordingly ordered the erection of a now printing office and will soon add another press and such other material as is needed. In view of this necessity we would be pleased to have every delinquent subscriber and every one owing ou account to come forward and furnish the needful. A dollar or two is no burden for each one who owes us to pay, but the aggregate will (111 the required amount. Death ef Mrs.

Martin received a telegram ou Wednesday morning announcing the sad intelligence of his wife's death at his mother's home in Lewiston, Pa. Mrs. Martin has been iu failing health for several years and her death was not altogether unexpected. She was formerly a resident of Minneapolis and taught school, making her home with Mrs. Bardonnar.

She was in her 24th year. Dr. Martin took the morning train to go to the funeral. Minneapolis Messewjt.r. A printer stood at the desk of a business man the other day and noticed him using letter aud bill-head ho bad bought of a New York or Buffalo house.

Said the printer, who was a customer: "What would you think of me if I should go to New York and buy your lino of goods for myself ami family?" lie replied: "I would think you a fool, when I know you got the same goods just as cheap of mo and aid a fel low citizen." When the printer called his attention to the important letter and bill-heads, the merchant coughed and walked up behind the counter to wait on a customer. And the same merchant, just the day before, flaked the printer to give him a free puff about his big stock of new goods. When the bills from the paper mill and type foundry came in and the wages of the employes camo due, the printer thought of these facts.
