They have the Stock and the largest assortment in the State, Any one in need of anything, ought not to buy without first LOOKING AT their STOCK. When tt poor man uttcmptM to rii-t attempt1' to f-how (tmt'tlieru is no moiioply of genius, unil Unit Gud liulli ulveii as free and nolilo a mihI to tun-lowly as to the great he Is not on- oppoHeil.by'the class above linn, but envy and scorn are but too often his portion itinniifr.liU fyllows.

Tliey do not like to sco themselves by one whom they reckoned no better than themselves, and in stead of l. un gil jr. The next class above ovc not to see a niai. who has miught boat of In' a iioMe soul, no treasure mvts Iho of mhulj presuming to take iiis place among them' 'and there universal shout of.

"Keep him dOAli!" This upward struggle which the poverty struck genius has to endure the Kimggle a- gainst prejudice and misrepresentation and want has daunted many ti inlnil, and discour aged many a heart, and has kept inuny a tiinti, formed to be a light in the woild, iu poverty and darkness to the end of his days. Uetause of this many a noble spirit lias concealed lis own brightness'; many noble and free men of whom the world was not worthy, have giuiu down into the grave with all the wisdom of their great souls untold and nuule no sign. The Way Pur a Town to Inn case ltt BiiMiness, The Ilrst important thing to do in order to build up a trade, in the midst of a farm'ng aud stock raising coiii'imnity, la to furnish a class market for every thing thoy have to sell. The market for their material should be such that whenever a load of any kind of produce is brought in, it is certain to tlnd asule, at the very best pi ice the market will aiioal. The second indespeiisiblu is to be able to furnish all customers vs ho call, with anything in tlie line of trade they may call for, at the lowest pfice for which ft can possibly be sold.

The next point is to keep these fads eoiistnu ly before the people let them know that you are not only selling but buying. If the busl. iiess of a town is to Ua maintained and coin in ualy extended, there must be lively bitsiness men, their slock of jioctls must be auric, they must coutinualy scud out pui'siiasmiis for people to come aud look at their goods, buy their produce at the very beat figures that can te offered, and iu fact convince them thai their town is the place for them to transact their business. Parsons Eclipse. The Intkb-statk, two weeks ago, made the "that it did not want to deal in pt soualltius, but there was a certain county official, that Is liable to get his foot in it If he is not careful." The In run state prides itself with having the grit to i-li)' any crooked ness Iu public olllcials, aud giving it to the peo Wo demand of the writer of that article, to know which one of our county olhVials is guilty of the Imputation reflected upon them by this cowardly piece of journalism? We do not believe the wilier has any jir.t, if he had, he would name the crookedness nnd ihetiuh'y party, and not let the innocent sutler for guilty.

We have a full quota of county oliheis and each one of them are presumed to be honorable men uiitll the contrary appears by proof. It may be the writer, knows of something crooked but we do not believe, without proof, and uulea he duss umw his statement, he should retract it. It, has ever sua our course wheu we had anything to say, to gather the facts in the case, and print them, aud if anyone felt like grlting" the facts, we weie ready. Thus far in our journalism, although we have set forth several lluies the bad thiugs that are now known to all, and ha 1 the grit to say who did it, we deliberately put rth a statement we were unable to p-ove. Vd1 we insist that Mr.

Bur. if he has found any crookedness, shall tell who It was, cither spot the man, orget spotted. This wholesale abuse is a slander on the whole county official corps. Show some of your boasted "grit." Capt G. A. Nicholetts is Post commander here ho gave us the facts. Communicated. It takes but a short time for a telegram to reach Humboldt, from ShelbyvIHe, Ky.

But It takes about twelve hours to deliver the dis patch after It reaches Humboidt. At least that is the experience of one Individual. A dispatch received at Humboldt, at 8: 30 In the evening, was put in the Post Office at 10 o'clock the uext morning, it may not be of any importance that the K. C. L.

8. R. lose the sale of a ticket, that is of small Im portance to a great corporation. But it is not necessary, indeed it is gross negligence to keep a telegram twelve hours that calls Humboldt lady to a distant state, to the bed. side of a dying sister.

children 15 cts. Among the good gifts that December brings (is is Demorest's Mouthly Magazine. Tha Christmas number is replete with suitable ar tides for the seasons, well written, and of a highly interesting character. Mrs. Alexander, the popular English novelist, continues her tory, "The Admiral's Ward," and the shorter etotles are well worth reading.

All the Christmas articles are unusually good, including Jennie June's "Christmas Sermon" in her "Talks with Women." The article on "Home Art and comfort" will give the ladeis some good hints, and Current Topics" are, as usual, full of interest. "The Kitchen" had not been forgotten, and the "Fashions" are carefully attended to. Among the poems is 'A Christmas Dream," by Margaret Sangser, beautifully illustrated. The art department embraces a charming oil picture of a German lady of the sixteenth century, two fine steel engraving, and a great variety of other lllnt- trations. On the whole, the Christmas num la a decided success, and cannot fail to giv leaure to Ita reader.
